Got the winter blues? Well, these so-called “reverse sunglasses,” which are definitely not for vampires, are designed to help you to fight seasonal affective disorder (SAD). With snow coming down on a lot of people in the world right now, this might be the way to keep yourself out of the moody blues.

The SEQINETIC reverse sunglasses were designed and created by a gang of mechanical engineers from Copenhagen. Compared to coffee and sugar, the reverse sunglasses offer a calorie-free way to beat the winter blues. They offer bright, white daylight in a portable form factor. The glasses feature 6 powerful LEDs and a reflector, which pushes diffuse, simulated sunlight towards your eyeballs. The reflector is said to be brighter at the top than at the bottom, much like the way you might view the Sun, and you can still view items underneath the reflector if you need to.

In order get the glasses, you’ll need to pledge $55 (USD). Once the project is funded to its $8,000 goal, the glasses will sell for $80.

The 21st century is proving to be an exciting time for technology and fitness fanatics. As tech shrinks and becomes more and more mobile, the list of available gadgets for workout-aholics continues to grow. One of the latest entries into the high-tech fitness fray is the Sportiiiis system from (who else but) 4iiii Innovations (as in “four eyes.”)

This unique “heads-up” display offers color-coded LEDs help you keep track of your heart rate and pace without looking down at a watch or other electronic gadget. The gadget clips onto pretty much any pair of sunglasses, and tucks in neatly along the arm between your ear and lens. Sportiiiis communicates wirelessly with ANT+ compatible devices such as a wrist-worn heart-rate monitor or bike cadence sensor, and provides quick visual feedback, and alert you when you drift outside of your targets.

For instance, a green light in the middle indicates you’re right at the perfect heart rate, while amber or red LEDs to the edges tell you if you’re too high or too low from your ideal heart rate or running pace. Special software for Mac, PC or smartphones will allow you to set up workout profiles for your Sportiiiis to monitor. A small tap on the side of the device will also provide an audible heart-rate cue, and double-tapping lets you flip between multiple paired sensors.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Sportiiiis should be available some time later in November, and will retail for $199 (USD). Sunglasses and remote sensors not included, though.

I’ve yet to see a movie that looks significantly better on 3D, but another reason why I’m not willing to pay to watch a 3D movie is because I wear prescription glasses. Not only do I look stupid wearing two pairs of glasses, the 3D glasses fall off of my face every 30 seconds. Sometimes the uneven alignment of the glasses also gives me a massive headache. Finally, LG has a solution for four-eyes like me: clip-on 3D glasses.

LG made the AG-F220 glasses for customers who have LG Cinema 3D HDTVs, but I don’t see why you can’t use it to watch 3D in cinemas or on other brands of monitors or TVs. The polarized lenses also offer UV protection so you can even use them as actual sunglasses. You can order the AG-F220 straight from LG or from Amazon for $20 (USD). Pouch and cleaner included. Someone should mod this to make them look like Adam Jensen’s implanted shades.

I’m no celebrity, but I’ve seen how annoying and pesky the paparazzi can get (by watching videos taken by paparazzis of other paparazzis. Oh, the irony.)

Celebrities can try to hide behind hoodies, don outrageous disguises, threaten violence if the photographers venture too close, or put a hand up to cover the lenses of the paparazzi. Or they can simply walk past them in these outrageous paparazzi shades.

Technically, they just cover the whole horizontal portion where your eyes are, but still. They won’t exactly render you unrecognizable, but they can hide a bigger part of your face than normal sunglasses or aviators can. Plus they sort of look good, in a Lady Gaga kind of way (and the model they used was pretty, so maybe that played a factor, too.)

These Paparazzi Shades were available from Urban Outfitters for $12(USD) but now they’re out of stock, so you might have to wait it out for a while until they get a new shipment of these in.

You might have thought that spies didn’t need all those fancy gadgets anymore, but you’d be wrong. These fancy glasses are a little less geeky than the other spy glasses we’ve seen (but not too much so). Naturally, the Anna Chapman moniker comes from the sultry Russian spy who was busted wearing specs like these.

Truth or fantasy, we’ll never know, but these specs will allow you to look stylish while you’re spying. Although they’re not exactly inconspicuous.

They’ve got 4GB of internal storage, which allows you to store up to one hour of continuous video in high resolution (1,280×720, 30fps). On top of that, they also have a built-in microphone. A handy USB port allows you to download all of your missions.

Given the bad Photoshop job below, I’m sure that Anna Chapman had nothing to do with the making of these. But you’ll still make Q proud if you wear these stylish spy glasses. They’re available over at Chinavasion for about $114 (USD).

(Cheesy image below slightly NSFW…)

I love Lady Gaga. A lot. Don’t believe me? Check out my Last.fm page. That’s right; by my iTunes’ count I’ve played her tracks four hundred and fourteen times. The closest runner-up? Minus the Bear, at 133 plays. Boy, what can I say? I just like to dance.

So imagine my surprise (and inevitable delight) when a bored-at-work visit to Engadget resulted in a do-it-yourself lesson on how to craft your own cyberpunk-inspired Lady Gaga LED shades. To quote my good friend Wayne Campbell, “Shyeah!”

These sexy shades come courtesy of Instructables member “the_gella,” who assembled the GaGa goggles for her Halloween costume. And on the cheap, no less. All she did was combine two digital picture frames with the frames to a pair of sun lenses. Some pliers application and hot glue gunning later and voila:

Believe you me – I will make a pair of these in time for E3 this year. Just wait…

These new shades from the house of Calvin Klein sport a 4GB USB flash drive, neatly concealed inside the right arm. Unfortunately, this design means you can’t wear the sunglasses while accessing your data, but how often do you really need to do that. And I’ve got to ask, why couldn’t they double the storage by putting another drive on the left side too?

Calvin Klein’s USB sunglasses should hit stores this October for $199 (USD).

The Celebrity Lamp by Deeply Madly Living is made from 40 pairs of Aviator sunglasses, and brings a touch of our paparazzified culture into your living room.

Attention to detail is what makes this lamp stand out. My favorite bit has got to be the true-to-form temple switch mechanism. Furthermore, because the sunglasses are mirrored, it casts nifty disco ball-esque shadows on your wall. But why didn’t they think to add a rotating mechanism to take advantage of that?

The lamp was originally created as a way to repurpose old Aviator glasses, but unfortunately now that it’s in mass production mode, the makers have thrown the recycling bit under the bus and just make them out of all brand-new parts. I’m not sure I understand the economics here, but I can’t quite see how taking a couple dozen cheap pairs of sunglasses and adding a lightbulb = $1,600, but I guess they are marking it up for originality and detailed execution.

You can buy one here- and it might please you to know that both American and European voltage versions are available.
