Crystalroc Bedazzles Your Galaxy Tab, Doesn’T Make the Tab Any More Interesting

For a mere £999 (appx. $1,566 USD) you can purchase this bedazzled Samsung Galaxy Tab from Crystalroc. Crystalroc specializes in this kind of thing, kind of what Colorware does for colored gadgets, they do with crystals. Yes, I think that they’re both ridiculously expensive.

While it’s good that more and more tablets are appearing on the market, these smaller 7-inch tablets aren’t my favorites. I’d rather have a 10-inch iPad or something larger. Once the iPad 2 comes out with cameras, I think it’ll make more sense to get one of those. It’s true that the Galaxy Tab is small enough to hide away in a big pocket, but how about that iPhone you got in the other pocket?

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but there is a limit on how many gadgets you need to carry with you. Between the smartphone, iPad, netbook, laptop and desktop, you only need so many devices that essentially do the same thing.

Getting Organized was Never This Much Fun

I was surfing around the recesses of the Interweb today, digging under rocks to bring you fun new stuff from around the globe, when I stumbled upon something that just jumped out and beat me over the head. Nope, they’re not particularly gadget-y or game-y, but when I saw these goofy little organizer tabs, I was so enamored that I had to write about ‘em.

Created by Korea’s J’Story, these little removable tabs sit on the edge of your folders, documents or other papers, and help you keep organized.

The series includes a whimsical menagerie of characters including comical bears, rabbits, and little ninja dudes.

Aren’t they irresistable? As a matter of fact, I think they’re so cute I just might have to puke. The certainly beat those boring Post-It tabs that many of us have on our desks.

You can find the whole family over from Korea’s DCX for 1700 to 2500 Korean Won per pack (between $1.50 and $2.25 USD). Now you’ve just got to figure out a way to get them shipped here from the other side of the planet.

Pinball Tries the Digital Route Once More

Every once in a while a company takes a stab at trying to resurrect pinball machines using modern technology. The latest entry into the digital pinball genre replaces the old mechanical table with a large flat screen display and interchangeable digital games.

The system offers up the familiar top-down view and flipper controllers you’d find on a traditional pinball machine, but that’s about where the similarities end. Austria’s TAB has created the “Virtual Pinball” platform to offer arcades a cost-effective way to offer multiple games in a single cabinet. At the core of the system is a 42-inch touchscreen surface, along with a proprietary gaming platform which allows new tables to be easily downloaded.

Unlike some of the other pinball-specific systems out there, this one can also be used to play other action arcade games, so maybe it’ll be more popular. In addition to flipper inputs, the machine incorporates realistic tilt sensors which can be programmed to affect game play. Since the system offers IP connectivity, there’s even an online tournament play capability.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of digital pinball simulation, and would much rather play on an old mechanical machine any day of the week. But with the old pinball industry pretty much a fading memory, digital is about the only game in town.
