This concept piggy bank is more like a combination of an ATM and a Tamagotchi. In order to keep it happy, you have to feed it your credit card. No money, and it gets sad.

Designed by Wang Chao, Maggie Kuo, and Jordi Parra, the electronic piggy bank concept has an iPhone for its screen that displays the emotions of the piggy bank, while an Arduino detects and manages the money and transmits status back to a computer via Bluetooth, which in turn notifies the iPhone over WiFi.

Creating an automatic withdrawal from your primary bank account to a savings account is probably easier and you won’t be charged any interest, but hey, if all fails, you can try this.

The generation that grew up with tamagotchis, video games, and the internet isn’t about to research kids and babies in books or – God forbid – the internet! They’re going to be turning to the Gravida, of course!

The Gravida Nurse Prenatal Education Device features a touchscreen display that shows educational articles that are perfect for tweeting moms.

From the company that brought you the original Tamagotchi “virtual pet,” comes a new gadget which takes that basic premise and injects your own personality into the equation. Bandai’s Human Player starts out by asking you fifty personal questions, then creates your own digital Mini-Me based on your personality traits.

The “Ego-gram” test assigns of 22 personalities to start your virtual doppelganger’s life. Once your personality is set, you can interact with other virtual characters on the device, or beam your “self” to other Human Players via infrared and wreak havoc in their worlds. Check out the wacky Japanese video below for an explanation of how the Human Player works:

Now that clears everything up, doesn’t it? If you happen to speak Japanese, you can take the personality test here. Available in Japan starting at the end of March, each Human Player will run
