Unfortunately, there aren’t any screenshots or even details on the gameplay at this point, just Tecmo Koei’s announcement that the franchise is coming to the 3DS. Heck, we don’t even know if it will be a whole new game or a port of an old one. But none of that matters to me. I’m a sucker for Ryu and his bad-ass ninja moves.

As soon as I know anything else about Ninja Gaiden 3DS, I’ll be sure to let you guys know.

At this week’s Game Developers Conference, a number of incredible new (and old) additions were announced for the Wii’s downloadable game services, but the one that really gets me going is this: arcade titles will be added to the Virtual Console lineup. There’s just nothing like the classics.

Nintendo didn’t mess around with any of this fancy advance warning business, either; bam! The arcade additions were announced, and bam! You can already download a few via the Virtual Console. Here’s the list of games that have been announced:

Gaplus (Namco Bandai): 600 Wii Points (available now)

Mappy (Namco Bandai): 500 Wii Points (available now)

The Tower Of Druaga (Namco Bandai): 500 Wii Points (available now)

Starforce (Tecmo): 500 Wii Points (available now)

Space Harrier (Sega) (coming soon)

Solvalou (Namco Bandai) (coming soon)

Prepare for a bloody good time. My favorite hack-and-slash game of all time is finally getting its due with a real next-gen update. Ninja Gaiden 2, long in the works from Tomonobu Itagaki and the video game artisans from Team Ninja finally has an official release date.

The latest installment in the Ninja Gaiden series is officially slated for U.S. release on the Xbox 360 on June 3, 2008. Don’t live in North America? You won’t have to wait too long — Itagaki says the rest of the world will get the title in “early June”.

Expect the game to be even more challenging than the amazingly difficult original, and expect lots and lots of blood and gore this time around. In addition the the release date, Itagaki revealed another big surprise today – the game will add a cool recording feature which will let you save your best Ninja moves and share them on Xbox Live for all to see.

For the next couple of months, give your fingers plenty of rest, because they’ll be covered with button-mashing blisters come this June.
