I have a confession to make: I used to be a lazy brusher. As a kid, I didn’t really understand why I had to brush my teeth at least twice a day. My mom would make me brush after meals and I’d do an inward celebratory jig whenever she forgot to remind me.

When my baby teeth began falling out, my mother scared me into thinking that it was because I hated brushing (which is, technically, true) and I freaked out with her exaggerated stories (I was going to be toothless by age 30, she said) so I got my act straight and became a religious brusher ever since.

However, for those people who have yet to learn their lesson, the Misoka toothbrush is here to save you and your <del>mildewy</del> teeth.

So what makes this plain-looking toothbrush so special? Well, its bristles are coated with a nanomineral that will not only remove all the gunk from your pearly whites (or uh, yellows) but also leave a hydrophilic coating on your teeth to prevent any detritus from sticking to your teeth. In normal-people speak, hydrophilic means “water loving” (or in this case, saliva loving) and detritus refers to all those tiny particulates that give you cavities and sore teeth if you don’t keep them away (in short, teeth gunk.)

Unconvinced? Check out this video about the Misoka toothbrush:

Imagine all the water and toothpaste you’ll be able to save by just having to brush just once a day! The thought of brushing with that (in)frequency doesn’t sound very appealing to the adult me, though. The Misoka toothbrushes go for $15 a pop from the Hiroshi Beverly Hills Salon. Get a-nano-brushing today!

The latest thing in Japanese orthodontistry involves putting LEDs into braces. Actually, no, but hip young Japanese kids can have their teeth outfitted with LEDs to light up their smiles like a Christmas tree.

These LED lights were designed by Motoi Ishibashi [JP] and Daito Manabe [JP] for an advertising campaign for Laforet Harajuku [JP] (a Japanese department store), and while they aren’t available for purchase at this point, I’m sure it’s only matter of time. They will undoubtedly become very popular among Japanese teens.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

The lights flicker in varying colors at varying speeds, and are controlled wirelessly by a computer. Of course, it’s best to make sure that your choppers are pretty darned clean before they start lighting up.

I’m pretty sure that it’s one of those fads that won’t take off in the US anytime soon, even if they are someday available for purchase in Japan.

You never know–those icy grins may be perfect for your next Halloween party, or any other time you want to break the ice with unusual cocktails.

Frozen Smiles are available at a number of novelty and gift specialists; a list of retailers is available on the Fred site, but there are no prices, alas.

Do you brush your teeth? Then I have just the thing for you: a toothbrush! But seriously, OHSO’s pocket toothbrush is not only stylish, it’s also very practical. The most notable feature of this toothbrush is that it can carry toothpaste in its handle. All you have to do is turn the handle’s knob and toothpaste comes out! Tilt down and the paste goes to the bristles.

What’s more, the handle also has a window so you can see how much toothpaste is inside. When you run out, just plug your toothpaste’s tube into the handle to refill it. An adapter is included to make sure that all toothpaste tubes are compatible with the handle.

The OHSO pocket toothbrush can be yours for $17.99 over on ThinkGeek. I wonder which would be better: a toothbrush that also carries toothpaste, or toothpaste that also carries a toothbrush? Hmm.
