Gavio’s TOAST! speaker dock looks like one of those shiny metal toasters you might find in your kitchen. Just don’t expect to toast up any bread in this thing. For starters, it’s only got a single slot. It also doesn’t have a heating element – instead, it’s got a speaker and a 3 watt amplifier inside. It’s also got a built-in Li-Ion battery so you don’t even need to plug it in.

The dial on the front changes volume instead of the darkness of your toast, while I’m not sure what the toast plunger does. I’m hoping that it changes tracks, and doesn’t just sit there looking cool. All I know is that is should have a bagel mode for cramming in older, thicker phones.

Gavio hasn’t announced the pricing or release date yet for the TOAST! dock, but I’m hoping we’ll see it pop up sometime early in 2012.

For harried days like that (which happen quite often for me), I just pop some bread into the toaster, dash around the house like a madwoman, and grab it before running out of the house. Sometimes it’s a little burnt on the edges, sometimes it’s still cold in the middle, and other times, I feel like I’m eating a black, bitter cookie.

So when I saw the Roastie toaster designed by Mateusz Główka, I was beyond excited.

Now that perfect slice of toast is well within arm’s reach. Although it’s still a concept design for now, I’d really love to see the Roastie toaster through until production.

For one, it looks extremely cool. What’s not to love about a fish-tank bubble-shaped toaster in your kitchen?

Besides appearances, it also promises to toast your bread to perfection in a shorter time than most conventional oven toasters do. Of course, the Roastie’s design could still use a little work, seeing as it can only accommodate one slice of bread at a time. But hey, for the perfect toast, I’m willing to compromise.

All this talk about toast is starting to make me hungry…

Their $30 Toastit is a 27-in-1 memory card reader that bears a striking resemblance to a retro-modern toaster. While it won’t actually brown your Pop Tarts, the Toastit will read most memory cards, including Compact Flash I & I, MicroDrive, SD, MMC, Memory Stick and xD formats.

The plug-and-play flash memory reader is completely USB powered, and transfers via a high-speed USB 2.0 connection to both Macs and PCs. And no, I couldn’t find a ‘bagel’ setting anywhere on the thing.

The computer controlled toast burner uses a specially modified CNC fabricator with a hot air gun in its carriage. As the system moves along the horizontal and vertical axes, the heat source is modulated by a computer.

And voila… totally custom toast. Now all the guys over at Evil Mad Scientist need to do is figure out a way to mass produce these.
