Between you and me, Tron was a great movie. I really liked it. Unlike some movies, it stands the test of time pretty well. When I recently watched it again, and I wasn’t disappointed. Today, a new Tron Legacy trailer was leaked on the internet in full HD. Check out those shiny new light cycles!

It’s really great to see this trailer in full HD resolution. Just like Avatar, this movie is going to be a 3D extravaganza. The new world of Tron Legacy will just jump out, grab you and shake the quarters from your pockets.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Even Bruce Boxleitner and Jeff Bridges are coming back. The creators of the movie integrated concepts from the Matrix into Tron, which isn’t bad in my book. Wait, wasn’t the Matrix inspired by Tron? It’s too bad that we’ll have to wait until the 17th of December 2010 in order to see it.

Why do they always have to redesign the look of the Transformers? Can’t we just stick with the classic one? And maybe the Armada version?

Also wtf was Optimus’ vehicle mode supposed to be? He looked smaller than Bumblebee. If that trailer is any indication of the game’s quality then it seems to be transforming into something not worth buying.

Transformers: War for Cybertron will be released for the PC, Xbox 360 and the PS3 on June 22 this year. I’m really hoping this turns out okay.

Frenetic flaming fights get a lot more complicated when you’re carting one of Rapture’s creepy unchildren around, as the newly released BioShock 2 multiplayer trailer proves… but they still look a lot like regular ol’ Capture the Flag. It’s just that the flag, in this case, happens to look a lot like a little girl.

It’s a little hard to figure out just what’s going on here. Oh, the gameplay seems simple enough: one team has to capture the Little Sister, and the other team defends. What’s strange is that the capturing team’s goal is to return the Little Sister to her vent… and the defending team (which includes a Big Daddy) tries to stop you. Shouldn’t lil’ girl want to go back to her vent? The gameplay begs the question of the different dynamics in BioShock 2, and whether or not this setup is just a way to keep the multiplayer mode from being too over-the-top. The game is already a little uncomfortably kidnap-tastic… maybe they wanted to keep the added creepiness of harvesting the Little Sisters out of it.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Though, to be honest, all philosophical concerns fly right out of my head while watching this trailer. The Little Sister’s reactions – all of them – are enough to make the skin crawl.

Dead Rising had some pretty ridiculous moments, certainly, though they tended to be sandwiched between runs to the bathroom and epic chainsawing sessions filled with flying limbs. For the sequel, it looks like Capcom is taking the craziness a few steps further. We’ve already seen the Vegas-like city and the giant hamster balls of death… and now? An absolutely silly trailer from Tokyo.

That looks pretty crazy, right? Nothing like a fountain of zombie blood for the best splash effects. But that’s nothing compared to this video.

Does every game necessarily need multiplayer? Nah, certainly not, but these days, it’s pretty standard, though the excellent BioShock was allowed to stand on its own as an (amazing) single player experience. For the sequel, however, players get a chance to experience the fall of Rapture firsthand in the new multiplayer mode. At least there’s a good idea fueling the multiplayer mode!

Forget the Circus of Values–this is a circus of death. Violent, flaming, bullet-riddled death. BioShock in multiplayer looks like a very bad day in Rapture indeed. Something tells me that frequent, inescapable death will be the order of the day when settling down for a few rounds with all the crazies.

With the definition of just what a game is expanding so rapidly, mellow experiences like Endless Ocean and its forthcoming sequel are beginning to seem absolutely normal. The scuba diving games have an emphasis on exploration and the beauty of the ocean, without a lot of the goals and challenges that crop up in traditional games. These titles are about swimming and seeing–just like real scuba diving, but without that constricting suit.

That said, the sequel includes a few more goals and the challenges of animals that will attack you if you’re not careful. Here, the dangers of exploration in the open sea have become a factor, but the emphasis is still on the exploration, not beating sharks off in a panic.

A new trailer is available, showcasing the sequel’s improved graphics.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

This is one franchise I do hope continues, with new iterations every few years, because this is one area where improved graphics and functionality will begin to make huge differences. The sequel features voice chat for dives with friends over the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

Heavy Rain is more an interactive visual story than a traditional game, which is why it looks like most of the development resources went into the game’s look. They did. But from the newest media, that was money well spent. Heavy Rain is still lingering in the ol’ uncanny valley, but at times, it looks like we’re on our way out of the depths of unsettling into the heights of realism.

The stills, overall, are better than the video, I think; once even these amazing figures begin to move, they’re only animated characters once again… but the effect is still quite breathtaking in comparison to what we usually see from games.

Remarkable. We’ve come a long way since Pong, eh?

Heavy Rain, which is slated for 2010, promises a dark story packed with the potential for character death. All four main characters can die; if (or when) one kicks off, another character steps in, and the story continues. Just as in life, events don’t shatter to a screeching halt because one person fails or dies. It’s an interesting approach to an interactive experience like this.

Just in case you forgot about LEGO Rock Band, there’s a brand new trailer here to remind you, and to educate you on the epic and destructive fun of replacing traditional demolition with rock.

The little scene that takes place during this gameplay clip is amusing, but it’s really the details that stick out to me, like the bricks on the note highway. I’m always enamored of the little things, and here it looks like the little things are going to be the cornerstone of the experience.

Well, that and the awesome LEGO dudes.

If you haven’t had enough of Rock Band and its ilk yet, the LEGO version is scheduled for this year, during the jam-packed holiday season.

The guys over at Chunnel.TV scrounged up the preview trailer for the original 1982 classic CGI flick, TRON and compared it with the upcoming 2010 reboot, TRON Legacy. There are no surprises here, but the computer graphics in the new film are just a wee bit better.

Here’s the trailer for 2010’s TRON Legacy (best watched in HD):

And here’s the trailer from the 1982 original:

Boy, we sure have come a long way. About the only thing these two appear to have in common are light bikes and Jeff Bridges. As the guys at Chunnel point out, being nostalgic is great, but most of us wouldn’t trade in our PS3’s and Xbox 360’s for Atari 2600’s, would we?

BioShock 2 doesn’t even exist yet and already the artisans of the world are hard at work on the sequel to 2K’s alternate-history title. A doll fashioned to look like one of the game’s Big Daddy characters was shown in the sequel’s beautiful (and creepy) trailer, and now that same doll has been recreated in loving detail.

How cute! I could almost forget that he probably wants to kill me and just give him a big ol’ squeeze. The best thing? This adorable doll doesn’t include the sense of horror and foreboding I get with the trailer.

Haven’t seen the referenced trailer for BioShock 2? Climb out from under that rock and give it a watch.
