Killspencer Dopp Folio: For Gadgets & Grooming, Say What?

I’ve never thought about mixing my shaving cream with my gadgets, but that didn’t stop Killspencer from thinking of a way of doing this, thanks to their new Dopp Folio, which does double duty as a carrier for your grooming stuff or your travel gadgets.

The sides on the bag can attached, to make a more box-like shape for your toiletries. Instead, if you want to use it as a gadget folio, just undo the sides, and it has enough space for your iPad or 11-inch MacBook Air. You might be able to fit a few more items in there along with it. Just don’t try and actually put your laptop and your hair gel in there at the same time – I can’t imagine that’d be a good idea.

The folio looks pretty handsome and comes in four different varieties. The canvas versions will cost you $149 while the leather ones will set you back $189.

Recycled Steel Ravage Transformer: An Oldie but a Goldie

For his day job, Alan Yang sells hand-painted bone China wares, but this robot is anything but that. He’s also one of those Chinese guys who likes to make awesome steel Transformers, and is part of the crew that made some of those gigantic IRL metallic bots. This Ravage Transformer is one of his own though and I have to say that I quite like it.

If you don’t know much about Ravage, he’s one of the Decepticon Soundwave’s cassette robots that he used to eject to perform nefarious duties. He’s been redesigned over the years, and this is the result. He looks quite freaky.

The photos date from 2007, so but I haven’t seen these before. They were uploaded last week to Yang’s Flickr account. Needless to say that if Ravage was real, it would crunch up a number of cars before being brought down. Ironically, he looks like he was made from some of those crunched up cars himself.

Thomas the Tank Transformer: the Epic Knockoff

At first glance, Thomas the Tank Engine doesn’t have a lot going for him, badassery wise. He’s ugly, he’s made of old technology, he has no weapons and he can’t transform, overall useless in a fight. Until now:

Finally, a Chinese knockoff toy that’s more awesome than the original. I don’t like the name Transformable Tomas though. I think I’ll call this one Voltrain.

Boxetti Transformer Home Theater is Pricey, Yet Fugly

This home theater system transforms from a display case to a full-on entertainment center. That’s cool, but don’t get your hopes up. It’s way too expensive. Plus, it’s way too ugly.

This home theater system is by Boxetti and it’s like having a Transformer in your house. It goes from a white, ugly display case to a white and orange, ugly home theater system.

The concept is cool, but the glaring colors are a bit much. Also, the “transformed” state of this home theater system is pretty visually displeasing. It kind of reminds me of a freezer or a dishwasher.

Transforming systems are über cool, but I have to say that this one looks über ugly. Ah well, at least you won’t be able to afford it. At $8,000 (USD), only the rich will be able to waste their precious coin.

Bumblebee Costume Transforms… Into a Stationary Camaro

When done right, cosplaying is one of the few ways – short of a CG-filled live action movie – where we can see how our favorite fictional characters would look like if they were real. When done wrong, however, it’s just – it’s a fountain of glee, is what it is. This Bumblebee costume isn’t much to look at – not too detailed, or shiny or huge – BUT…

Blaster USB Hub: 4 Ports in Disguise

This Blaster 4-port USB hub is a minor fail. I mean, it’s cool that it transforms into a laptop (which you can then connect to a real laptop); it’s just that Blaster doesn’t transform into a laptop. Would it have been less awesome if Blaster the 4-port hub actually transforms into a boombox?

It’s just wrong. Like a Bumblebee that transforms into a plane. Or an Optimus Prime that transforms into a gorilla. Oh wait.

Meh. It’s okay I guess, since it’s doubly geeky. But I can’t believe it’s a PC. /runs

Mickey Mouse Prime: Mickey Goes Transformer

If you ever thought Mickey Mouse would be infinitely cooler if only he could transform into some sort of vehicular transport (and fight the Decepticons), then your dream is about to be realized with this Transformer Mickey.

I never knew something could look so innocently badass. Surely the world is spinning toward an explosive end now that we’ve seen a merger between Mickey Mouse and the Transformers. TransMickey (not the figure’s name, and thank goodness for that) comes in two flavors: the above, and a more monochromatic version, both of which will be out in the next few months in Japan.

As interesting an idea as the mashup may be, potential customers rating the forthcoming toys seem less than impressed with the idea. When something may be a little too strange for Japan, it might be time to step back and re-evaluate the idea.

Rcrc Robot Car: No Transformer, Still a Robot in Disguise

While I’d rather have a lifesize Optimus Prime, I might just have to settle for this R/C robot that can transform itself into a car, truck or tank.

The RCRC Transforming Robot from AOK can go from ‘bot to vehicle with a quick flick of two joysticks on the included remote control.

When in car mode, the remote lets you drive forwards, backwards, left or right. Flip back to upright mode, and the robot can spin left or right.

In all, the RCRC offers four driving modes: robot, truck, sports car, and “hip-hop dance”, whatever that means. The robot has a built-in rechargeable battery, which should give you about 30 minutes of run time per charge. Check out the video below to see the RCRC in action:

Boy, somebody clearly needs to go back to driver’s ed. Hopefully you can do a better job steering the RCRC than the guy in the video.
