If you’ve got an iPad 2 or 3rd Gen iPad, You’ve probably used a Smart Cover and noticed that there is a bit of wasted space when the Smart Cover is all folded up as a triangle to act as a support for your iPad. Some clever designers decided that they could put that wasted space to good use, and created a speaker that could fit into that void.

The Rocketfish Sound Prism was designed by CRE8 Design Studio, and it’s a portable unit made to work with iPads, though since it uses Bluetooth it will work with smartphones and other tablets as well. The speaker attaches itself magnetically and it can hide away inside an Apple Smart Cover when folded up. Sound comes out of both ends, so its not obscured by the iPad or its cover. That’s a pretty smart design in my book.

The MSRP for this speaker is $79.99 (USD) but Best Buy supposedly has it on sale for $49.99 (though the link is currently broken.)

In the series, you’ll find polygonal versions of Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Batman, Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Iron Man. It’s almost as if the superheroes have been made up out of cut glass. You wouldn’t want to see them shatter, though.

You can pick these up as prints as well as on hoodies and t-shirts over at James’ Society 6 shop. Prices range from $20 to $160 (USD). I like the stretched canvas and t-shirts of the Hulk above all.

When not telling time, these clever clocks look like a triangular hunk of wood. But switch them on, and a bright red 7-segment LED display hidden behind the thin wood veneer reveals the current time.

These aren’t the first clocks I’ve seen that pull off this illusion, but what makes these ones unique is their stylish angular face design, which makes them easy to read whether standing up or sitting down. As an added bonus, the clocks display not just the time, but also the date and temperature.

The clocks measure in at 8.25″ x 3.5″ x 3.5″ (21 x 9 x 9 cm) and come with an 110v – 240v A/C adapter, so they should work worldwide. LED Wood Triangle Clocks are available in either a dark and light wood veneer finish and can be found over at HOMELOO for $39 USD.

For just a few brief moments each day, this clock looks like an ordinary cube, but most of the time it transforms to form star-like geometric patterns.

The Time Cube carves off one corner of its 6-sided box to form a series of layered triangles which rotate to tell the current time. The largest triangle displays hours, while the medium-sized one tells minutes, and the small spinning triangle on top acts as a second hand.

At first glance, I thought it might be confusing to read, but if you just think about the triangles like the hands on a regular clock, it’s not too difficult to get the hang of it.

The Time Cube clock is available now from gadget importer Chinavasion for about $12 USD.
