Necker Nymph: Rent Your Own Underwater Sea Plane from Sir Richard Branson

It’s well established that Sir Richard Branson is both a geek and one of the richest people on Earth. He owns islands and has spent lots of money on commercializing space flight. Overall, he’s the sort of rich geek I wish I could be. He also has one of the fastest catamarans on the oceans called the Necker Belle.

That catamaran isn’t nearly as cool as the Necker Nymph. No, that isn’t some sort of porn show you can only see aboard the catamaran, it’s a submarine. The sub is sort of like an underwater airplane. It looks sort of like the Lotus Esprit that James Bond turned into a submarine to me.

You can rent the Necker Nymph for a full day along with an underwater chauffeur to drive you and a guest around under the waves for a full day if you have the loot. The sub isn’t enclosed so you will need SCUBA gear and dives can last for up to two hours at up to 30-meters deep. At $2,500 (USD) per day, the rental is surprisingly reasonable (at least if you’re Sir Richard Branson).

Stormtroopers on Vacation: The Empire Takes a Break

After Darth Vader took some time off, it’s nice to see that his underlings also get to take a vacation too. Rebels? Nah, let the sandtroopers or scouttroopers take care of them while stormtroopers take a greatly deserved break. Who says that stormtroopers don’t get to have any fun?

These images were created by the Surfing Trooper. There’s not much more information about him, but you can follow his adventures on his Tumblr. He sure likes to surf, take it easy, have some cocktails and check out the female stormtroopers as well.

I especially like the one where he writes ‘Vader’ in the sand of a beach. The upside-down beach photo is also pretty cool.

I’ve always thought it would be fun to cover a wall in my office with a mural of a tropical sunset, since the likelihood of an actual beach vacation seems less and less likely with my busy work schedule these days. Working sort of like those motorized image-flipping ad displays you see in shopping centers these days, the panorama can change between a variety of tranquil locales with a simple press of the remote. It even can play sounds of nature or new-agey music to help set your mind adrift. The box measures in at about 39″(w) x 3″(d) x 19″(h) and hangs easily on your wall.
