Robo-Dog: An AT-AT Walker for the Blind

Those who are short of sight can now be led by a miniature AT-AT walker instead of a proper guide dog. If they only knew what kind of monstrosity was leading them, they would no doubt let go and run in the opposite direction, hitting the nearest pole and getting knocked out cold. Which is good, because then they could forget.

I’m sure this is how AT-ATs must have been born within the Empire as well. They probably had a few Imperials who were blind and needed a guide robot. When they saw how creepy they were, they just upped the scale.

This latest robot from NSK is the ‘robo-dog’ (JP). It’s still in the R&D phase, which has been ongoing since 2005. Not sure what that says about it’s ability. It can climb staircases and small obstacles too, so snowy climates full of rebel bases shouldn’t be a problem.

AT-AT Walker Stroller: For Babies Born on Hoth

While this isn’t recent (it actually dates back to 2007), it’s still fun. With parents spending way too much on strollers, it’s cool to see this Imperial AT-AT Walker Stroller in capable hands, and built on a budget.

Rick Russo wanted his son Reed to get to know the original Star Wars as soon as he came out of the womb, that’s why he came up with this hack for his son’s stroller. The body panels were cut out of foam from a cardboard template and tied together with zip ties. It took Rick between 30 to 40 hours to complete this hack.

The whole thing looks pretty cool and undoubtedly sets this stroller apart from all of the gazillion others. It’s a perfect idea for all of the Star Wars fans having their own kids, and it’s bound to be fun for the tots as well. Remember, it’s never too early to start your kids on Star Wars.

Iron Baby: Kid’S Walker Exoskeleton

Want your child to have the best costume come Halloween? Ask Japanese company Sakakibara Kikai to sell you their miniature exoskeleton, which is meant to be driven by kids. It’s not as high-tech as Raytheon’s XOS 2, but it works and it is so damn cute.

The controls seem simple enough for a kid to understand, as shown in the video below. I’m not sure to what extent the arms can be controlled, but as it is this 5.25 ft., 400 lb. exoskeleton can do real damage in the hands of a bully. Or a modder. Throw in a couple mini gatling guns and some gunmetal paint and you’re ready to defend Zion from the Sentinels.

Sakakibara Kikai currently has no plans of mass-producing the Kid’s Walker, probably afraid of little wanzer skirmishes breaking out all over Japan, but the company estimates that it costs $21,000 (USD) to produce one unit. All that money, and yet they neglected to install some sort of protection for the pilot.

I’m not sure why this Star Wars AT-ST is pink. Oh, and blue, and yellow, and… well. You see. It’s bright. You could aim logs at this walker from quite a distance away.

Evil looks good in bright colors. In fact, I don’t know why evil things are so often plain. Evil needs to adopt color. Embrace fun. Everyone’s going to hate you anyway, so you might as well have a good time.

I can’t decide if this walker is more or less sinister with these colors. I know I would be too paralyzed with shock to fight back against such a beast. I guess that means it’s super effective!

Star Wars at-at Cake is a Lumbering, Sugary Menace

We’ve all seen a lot of geek culture-inspired cakes; this is the Internet, and food porn is big, after all. But this may just be the ultimate in cake geekery–so ultimate, in fact, that it may just be the best cake ever. Yes, that’s a bold statement, but this is a bold damn cake, and it’s got legs.

While I think this cake is really crying out for a tiny frosted Luke Skywalker in Hoth gear, that’s really the only possible thing that could make it better. Unless… imagine dozens of these. You could easily take over the world and then have a snack afterward.

Sin Desserts in Providence, RI is responsible for this amazing creation. Anyone lucky enough to live in Rhode Island, you know where to go for incredible cakes!
