PS Vita Multitasking Limitation: No Web Browsing During Games

We have some new PS Vita news for you today if you are among those who have been salivating over the portable console. When the new PS Vita launches, you will not be able to play games and browse the Internet at the same time. This is a bit strange since you can multitask with other services like music and Twitter.

You might remember that the PSP was the same way. You will have to exit your game and then start up your browser to see what’s on the web. Sony hasn’t confirmed this yet and it is speculated that support for the gaming/surfing multitasking will be released in an update at some point, but when it ships, it will lack this support.

I suppose it’s no big deal really. You usually don’t play games and surf the web at the same time. However, this feature would come in handy if you need to look up a cheat or a walkthrough when you’re stuck.

Firefox Halloween Costume: Gimme Some Mo, Zilla

My Halloween dress up duties have thankfully already passed, but for some people, the big night out is coming up this Saturday. This Halloween, I’ve seen some really interesting costumes, including this Mozilla Firefox costume. It actually looks cute, which is a bonus.

This costume is definitely one for geekettes and thankfully, it doesn’t look uncomfortable. Other than color coordination, a few elements make this a winner, thanks to the cute fox tail, ears, and make-up.

In my book, the trick to finding a good Halloween costume is to come up with something unique, but still comfortable, because you’ll most likely be spending hours sweating inside of it.

Firefox Coming to the PS3?! Please be True [Rumors]

Sony rolled out firmware v. 3.10 for the PS3 today, bringing Facebook integration to the system. Your boss will now know that you’ve been playing Pro Evo 2010 instead of writing your blog posts. Yay. Screw that, here’s something us PS3 owners can look forward to: a PlayStation Insider source who’s “very close to Sony” says that the company has been discussing the possibility of porting Mozilla’s increasingly bloated/ultra-versatile web browser on to their console. <— THIS, SONY. WE WANT THIS.

Before we commit ourselves to this future, note how doubly frail this gossamer tip is – it’s a rumor about a possibility. So it may be as real as Duke Nukem Forever (or do kids nowadays refer to GT 5?). But a gamer can dream, can’t he?

Sony Shows Web Browser for Playstation 3

At this week’s CEATEC show in Tokyo, Sony showed off their web browser for the Playstation 3 console.

The browser is navigated by moving two analog sticks (one for moving the cursor, the other for scrolling up and down the page). The browser also supports multiple windows, which is often lacking in thin web browser clients. it’s not yet clear how text will be entered, but I’m guessing there is some sort of on-screen keyboard controlled with the joystick.

With both Nintendo and Sony showing web browsers for their consoles, I think it’s only a matter of time before Microsoft builds a version of IE for the Xbox 360.
