These awesome invitations were created by Larry T Quach for his friends Esther and Ryan’s wedding. The invitation itself looks just like an old NES cartridge, and even has an actual circuit board incorporated along the bottom edge. I wonder if you plugged that into an NES if it actually would play. You need to blow on it first, though.

In addition to the Super Mario invitations, Larry created some fun Question Mark Block favors for guests to take home after the reception. Inside was a little keepsake of the day, as well as three gold (chocolate) coins in each box (nice touch). I wonder if anyone got lucky and had some 1-up mushrooms or Fire Flowers inside of theirs.

These blocks also contained small cards which guests had to use to ensure they got the right meal from the server, but they seem a little out of place to me, with their 16-bit veggie and cow sprites. Plus, I really wanted the one with the cow to say something about how you had died of dysentery.

A guy named Gary Hudston wanted to do something very special to ask his girlfriend, Stephanie, for her hand in marriage. Instead of doing the “on bended knee” thing, he got creative. He sought out a game level designer to help him put together a wedding proposal, buried deep inside a set of custom Portal 2 puzzles.

What he got was much more than he could have imagined. Thanks to the talents of Douglas “TopHATTwaffle” Hoogland and Rachel “Miss Stabby” van der Meer, he ended up not only with an awesome proposal for his soon-to-be fiance, but some equivalently awesome and dastardly Portal 2 gameplay. Aside from the Viewmaster, each invitation will include a customized reel as well as insert cards on the box that will contain the details of your coming wedding.

Unfortunately, these invitations are for those with huge wedding budgets and deep pockets though, because a hundred costs $3,450 (USD) and 200 invites will set you back $5,400.

But if money is no object and you’re sparing no expenses for your wedding, then you might want to head on over to Melangerie NYC’s shop at Etsy to take a closer look at the goods.

The Clone Factory takes your 3D image, translates it into code, and then produces this spooky doll head for you. It’s then attached onto one of a variety of dolls.

The process is pretty straightforward, thanks to a 3D image scanner and a 3D printer, but its results are strange and eerie.

In the end, you’ll end up paying about $1,800 (USD) for your ‘clone’. Apparently, these dolls are most frequently used for (creepy) weddings. Hopefully, all of these clones won’t start working together and start their own Clone Wars  (heh!).

The rings were modeled after parts off the Leica 50mm Summilux lens. The groom’s ring was the focusing ring, and the bride’s was the aperture ring. The rings aren’t the only cool things the jewelry making friend whipped up though.

He also constructed a very realistic looking metal Leica camera that is used to hold the rings. The guy’s ring slips over the bottom of the faux lens, and the woman’s on the top. This is really cool and I bet the jewelry maker could sell these things if he was so inclined.

The H.R. Giger-inspired wedding cake was created by the guys at Jet City Cakes, and it’s truly awesome. Between the creepy Art Nouveau black icing, and the pair of chestbursters popping out of the cake top, I can’t decide which part I’d like to sink my teeth into first. I’m thinking the black icing would make my teeth all black an nasty, so I think that first, then I’d swallow a chestburster whole to see if it pops out of my stomach after a few hours.

During last week’s Star Wars Celebration V, our little droid buddy tied the knot with one Ms. Bonnie Burton. The ceremony was officiated by none other than Darth Maul (See? he’s not so bad.)

R2-KT was flower girl, and the Dark Lord of the Sith himself was Best Man. And yes, that’s Adrienne Curry as the Maid of Honor. Why? Why do you even ask? Does any of this really make sense?

Officially, I guess you can’t get married to a droid in the state of Florida, so it went into the books as a “committment ceremony.” Call your local Congressman and demand that human-droid marriages be recognized by the state.

No word on whether or not the marriage was consummated.

The image comes from a selection of miniature slides, although I think it would be really cool if they replaced the slides with an LCD screen, so you could project moving images.

While I think that it’s neat that you can use these to use these little ring projectors for wedding portraits, they should make a version with a Batman logo in it so you could use it to hail superheroes when in peril.

For the unitiated, Tonberries are little lizard-like creatures from the Final Fantasy series, and they are nasty dudes with those knives. But perhaps the worst thing about them is the way they tend to creep up on you, advancing with every turn, not attacking but only preparing, while you’re busy hoping you can kill him before he takes out a party member (invariably the most important person).

Also? They apparently make excellent cakes. But this was a wedding cake, and I’m not sure what that says about the couple’s relationship. It is unstoppable and violent? A little scaly? Frightening beyond belief? Here’s hoping it’s just eternal.

When a graphic designer and a video game programmer get married, this is what happens: a profusion of pixels. Not only did the bride walk down the aisle clutching the above bouquet, but the wedding also featured custom 8-bit cake toppers and jewelry for the wedding party.

Perhaps the best part? They made it all themselves. How better to control the exact outcome?

Of course, doing-it-yourself doesn’t always mean you’re saving money. Bride Donelle reports that working within a modest budget was one of the couple’s motivations for their custom wedding, but their DIY efforts cost more than expected. Looking at the final result, though, I’d say it was worth it.

This particular cake is so detailed and elaborate that other cakes may be embarrassed to show their faces today. In the end, however, I think this cake loses out – barely – to efforts like this, with its handmade figures of Toad, Yoshi, and others. It’s a close race, though.

Though I can’t say for sure, I’d be willing to bet that’s the groom’s cake (but there isn’t another cake in the pictures available, so maybe not!), but the little Mario and Peach on the tag–that’s adorable. A nice nod to happy couples everywhere… even those who are sometimes made of pixels.

Actually I’ve only been able to play Katamari Damacy once, briefly, so I don’t know whether the different headgear actually exist in-game or if the designer took liberties. Either way, the designs are awesome.

While I like to think this Katamari wedding cake is filled with tiny buildings, cruise ships, cows and wildly gesticulating little people, it’s actually just lemon cake with strawberry filling. Oh well, it still sounds delicious to me. Besides, those airplanes have a tendency to get stuck in my teeth anyhow.
