Conner has been blogging for major internet publications for several years and is of course a hardcore geek. He has authored several Sci-Fi novels and short stories, some of which are collecting dust in his office, while others collect dust on Amazon.com’s shelves.

When not blogging about the latest gadgets, toys and robots, he is usually playing Killzone 3 and dissing you in a Helghast voice while he frags you. Conner also enjoys modding old video game consoles and attained brief internet fame by combining an Atari 2600 with a Guitar Hero guitar.
Like any geek, Conner also has a love of retro and new toys, so his latest project is a new geek toy store over at ecrater where he hopes to make many geeks happy by making sure they remain kids forever.

He looks forward to joining the team. In fact, when he heard the news, he got all teary-eyed, holding up an Oscar and saying “You like me. You really like me.” and “Yo Adrian! We did it Adrian!”

When he ran out of famous quotes and saw that no credits were going to roll to the triumphant end-of-movie soundtrack in his head, he simply stopped his foolishness and went back to writing.

Thanks to all of your continued readership, we’ve been able to add a new member to the Technabob writing team. I’d like to take a moment to introduce you to Shane McGlaun, our new Contributing Writer.

Technically, this is his second lifelong dream, writing full time and getting paid was his first.

I’d like to send greetings and salutations to Technabob’s new contributing writer, Chris Holzworth.

Student journalist. Avid video game player. Contributor extraordinaire. Aviator aficionado. Chris fancies himself an enigma wrapped in mystery, a creature of diversity who despises perpetuating nerdy stereotypes.

Currently, Chris is a student of journalism and English at Rutgers University. And while Chris’s experience may lie primarily with video games (he currently reports news at Kombo, writes a biweekly column at The Wiire, contributes to Geekadelphia, and runs his own gaming blog new game +) he is a multi-faceted geek. Not many people have the audacity to print out a photo of Chris Pine as James T. Kirk, take it to their hair stylist, and request that they make him pretty enough to command the Enterprise.

But Chris did.

Besides video games, Chris adores science fiction, robots, katanas, and almost anything set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

If you guys have a second to spare out of your busy lives, please drop a comment below and welcome Chris to our evil little empire.

Welcome Robot 1.5 is a funky little homemade robot that greets people in your absence. It was made by Armanda Lewis as part of 5 Projects in 5 Days. That means she had to make the robot, from start to finish, in only one day.

Welcome Robot 1.5 is red and yellow as an homage to Ironman. When you turn him on, the LED lights come on to let you know he’s in sensing mode. Input to his sensors from people passing by triggers the waving. Check out this video to see WR 1.5 in action.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Sure, he kind of welcomes people with a Nazi-like salute, but let’s recall the robot was made in just one day. It would take me like a year to make anything even approaching this. Besides, Armanda says that now that the whole one day thing is over, she plans to fix that wave right up, plus add an elevator sensor and sound. Until then, check out more of her robotic LED mashup art projects here.

I’d like to send a warm welcome to the latest and greatest member of the Technabob family, Karen Merzenich. Karen has just joined our writing team, bringing her unique viewpoint and wit to the pages of this humble little website.

She joins the Technabob ranks as a contributing author, and will be helping to bring you lots of offbeat and entertaining geek craft, design, and other fun stuff.

Karen is the founder and owner of MailboxTees, a t-shirt subscription service, and writes about tech, design, art, and shopping for the MailboxTees blog.

A former pastry chef, she also writes about food and cooking on off the (meat)hook. People are surprised to learn that this seemingly normal lass is actually a closeted sci-fi geek who has a full-size Galaga arcade game in her guest room, and who spends many a day and night trolling the deepest, darkest corners of the internet for obscure Stargate fan fiction.

Here are just a few of her initial Technabob posts, (with many more to come):

Humanoid Robot Learns to Make an Omelet

Legend of Zelda Shoes for all you Link Wannabees

Control your TV with your Watch; Look Like a Dork

Anyone with a real live Galaga machine in their guest bedroom is cool in my book.

[Be sure to check out Karen's other websites: MailboxTees, MailboxTees blog, and off the (meat)hook.]
