They look like a ton of fun and the detail is pretty amazing. The only drawback is that they come in Yoshi and Mario versions only, but maybe they will add other characters later if they sell a lot of cars. I for one would love to race Yoshi against Mario in real life.

For the price of $119.99 (USD) over at ThinkGeek, you get the huge RC Mario or Yoshi car, remote control, an AC charging adapter, a 9.6V Ni-MH rechargeable battery, a 9V alkaline battery for the remote and the trusty old manual.

Sadly these don’t launch banana peels and turtle shells, but you can’t have everything.

That’s one nasty zombie. Kodykoala also answered my only complaint about Mecha Yoshi and added the dinosaur’s trademark tongue, making him a prehistoric version of the Smoker from Left4Dead.

Donald didn’t go into the details of his creation process, only saying that he “used a Playmobile police station thing for the back computer, and some Lego laptops for the front display and keyboards.”

In the various Super Mario games, you end up stomping and eating quite a bit. I can just see Mario getting even with some koopas by making some nice koopa soup. They must taste good with mushrooms, right? Then, there’s Yoshi. That little dinosaur went all over levels eating up a storm. It’s safe to say that Mario fattened him up with apples so that he could BBQ him.

Dirk took about 60 hours to build this 2-foot tall LEGO Yoshi, complete with bulbous proboscis (I think I know the name of my new band). Sure, he’s nowhere nearly as tall as the 5-foot 9-inch tall Mario, but that doesn’t make Yoshi any less cool in my book. At first glance, I thought that was professional work. If I’d seen this Yoshi in a store, I wouldn’t have thought twice about picking him up and giving him a squeeze. From pattern to completed plush, however, this is all the work of deviantARTist 614, who also has a plush Toad up for display.

I like the Yoshi better, personally, but they both look great!

Pixel art is a funny thing: it’s both simple and complicated. Artist and Sprite Stitch forum poster Brit.knee reports that, in order to create these paintings, she found beadcraft images or old screenshots and blew them up so that she could count the pixels required to make each picture. After that, it’s a matter of creating a grid on the canvas and “sketching” the piece out that way.

Me, I always like the little details in work like this, and here it’s the hearts on Link’s “screen” that bring a smile to my face. I can picture that screen immediately to the right from the starting point in The Legend of Zelda, and my first encounter with the Octoroks. Good times.

The only thing even more sickeningly sweet than the little squishy Mario is this plush and huggable mini-Yoshi.

All of these plush little guys are handcrafted by Kelley of LittleElfsToyshop using a technique called needle felting. Her Nintendo creations are made from 100% wool, and despite their delicate look, they’re designed to last for years (so long as you don’t let the dog use them as a chew toy).

From the time I first picked up an NES controller, to now where I have to force myself to put the Wii controller down, there have been a lot of great Nintendo memories to choose from.

Most important to me is the game that took my fondness for video games and turned it into a passion; Ocarina of Time.

There isn’t really a singular moment I recall best, I just remember the feeling I got when playing through it the first time. I could sit on my family room floor and play for hours, happy to simply ride around the fields of Hyrule. For me, that was the game that made me realize I wanted video games to be a part of my life for years to come.

Chris Lange is an up and coming artist based in the Washington DC area. He is best known for his Nintendo themed collages, which are made entirely of old Nintendo Power magazines. Fittingly enough, these collages have been featured in Nintendo Power magazine, and one is even displayed in the Nintendo of America headquarters on the west coast.

Mr. Lange, an avid gamer and die-hard Nintendo fan, has attracted significant international attention for his work. In addition to his collages, his portfolio includes black and white and color photography, and computer illustrations.
