…or any other footwear. Walking barefoot can be quite dangerous. But not as dangerous as a walking bear foot. But that’s a fake topic for another fake day. Right now we’re looking at a pair of Vans slip-ons painted with the Hylian shield design from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

These shoes were made by KyozoKicks, maker of custom footwear with art from games such as Phoenix Wright, Minecraft, Okami, Sonic and more. I actually like all of those more than this design, but unfortunately KyozoKicks isn’t selling those anymore.

The Twilight Princess Vans slip-ons are indeed for sale, but you better have a link to a fat wallet to cop a pair, because KyozoKicks is selling them for the grass-slashing, pot-breaking, chicken-throwing price of $195(USD).

Hallmark cards are fine, but they usually aren’t very geeky, so stop giving them your hard earned money. Make some cards yourself like these 8-bit cards instead!

These pixel art cards were created by Kate Lilley, a blogger and author of crafting books for kids. Obviously she loves retro video games. After getting a ton of positive feedback for an 8-bit heart popup that she created, she was inspired to make these cards. There’s the alien from Space Invaders and the skull from The Legend of Zelda. These beat store-bought cards any day and besides, I’m a sucker for all things Space Invaders.

If you want to make these yourself all you need is a sharp crafting knife, and be prepared to supervise your kids if you plan on letting them help. A sharp knife is being used after all. Check out Kate’s blog for the templates and directions.

Equip it with the Zelda Fireplace Art, aka The Lazy Man’s Fireplace: set it and forget it. You don’t have to worry about it burning out or burning your house down.

The painting depicts the fire graphic from the Legend of Zelda game and can be ordered on canvas or wood.

You can order the Zelda Fireplace Art from James Bit Originals on Etsy. The list price is $110 (USD), but prices may still vary depending on the measurements of your fireplace. If you’d rather have something a bit cleverer – 8-bits cleverer to be exact – you can also try making a papier-mâché version of the graphic.

How long did it take for you to beat Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Days? Weeks? Months? Hey, me too. It’s not a game that you can complete in under a half hour. Well, not normally. However, one guy has managed to beat the game in just 23 minutes.

The guy who did it is YouTuber ZeldaFreakGlitcha and he accomplished that speed run through an obscure bug in Zelda: Ocarina of Time (as child Link if you can believe it).

Check out the video above, and watch him speed through the game. You may want to cut straight to about the 15-minute mark. The glitch involves defeating Queen Gohma and activating, but not traveling through the warp gate. The warp gate then drops child Link in Ganon’s castle, and… don’t you wish you had found this glitch? I know it would have saved me lots of time.

Contrary to my previous understanding of the suits, there are still four suits in this set – the Master Sword and Triforce are the black suits, while the Rupee and Heart are the red suits – so you can still use this to play Earthly card games. If I were you, I’d buy an extra set so you’ll have one with all the gorgeous artwork in mint condition.

Lamps provide the necessary light that we humans need to see by at night, so why are so many of them so boring? I wish i could go to my local department store and buy a lamp this cool, but I can’t. So thank God for the internets. I would much rather read by the soft light of this Triforce lamp than anything else.

This beautiful Triforce lamp, with it’s soft glow comes from Etsy seller TheBackPackShoppe and sets the mood quite nicely, whether you are exploring Hyrule or just relaxing with a book. It can be hung on the wall or displayed on your table.

It’s made with a poplar frame, a birch face, and the Triforce is yellow acrylic. Even for those who don’t know the Zelda games, it’s a great lamp design. The Triforce lamp will cost you $95(USD) and it looks well worth the price.

If you like to chop fruits and vegetables on a cutting board while dressed as Link, I’ve found your perfect kitchen accessory. This quality cutting board is made from walnut and hard-maple and is tough enough that you won’t mess up the design while you are chopping away.

These boards measure about 12 x 17 x 1.5 inches and sell for $125(USD). Given the price I would say that it’s for hardcore Zelda fans only. They are handmade, so if you order one you will get it within 2 weeks as they take some time to create.

You can find it on Etsy from seller 1337motif, who obviously loves both food prep and a good game of Zelda. Sure it’s expensive, but it’s made to last and it has a Triforce on it. Surely those factors justify a purchase. But if it’s still too expensive for you, consider grabbing a set of Triforce coasters for just $50.

Building custom cases is fun. They are a lot of work, but the end result can be very rewarding. Not only can they be works of art, but they actually serve a purpose, housing your computer. Some of them will just blow you away, like this custom Zelda case built by Richard Clinton (aka “8Bit Builder”.)

You can watch him build it from start to finish in the video and it might even inspire you to make one like it. The end result here is simply amazing. Link even has a cool light-up sword. Block-by-block, Richard builds a video game masterpiece.

So check out the video as he builds his 16-bit Link PC case based on The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and go on the adventure with him. Because as you know it’s dangerous to go alone.

While I’ve seen tons of NES casemods over the years, I have to say that it’s sometimes best to keep things simple and elegant, like with this Legend of Zelda tribute NES done up by Ryan Fitzpatrick (aka “Platinumfungi,”) along with the help of pro console painter Jayrod2.

The console offers up a stunning automotive grade, clear-coated finish, with gold, silver and red accents, clearly reminiscent of the original Legend of Zelda gold cartridge. Ryan says they allowed the paint to cure for a full month between steps to ensure a perfect finish. I certainly would never have that kind of patience. But paintjob aside, the very best part of the design though is the intricate pixelated Link on top.

You might assume that it was laser cut, but it was entirely done by hand, which makes it way more impressive in its level of detail and clean construction. Utilmately, it took Ryan over 50 hours of cutting, sanding and soldering to work out the light up multi-colored Link character.

The icing on the cake for this mod is the accompanying launch video clip Ryan and his pals made, working with Avid Productions 479 on the video, and Will Chiles on the original Zelda-inspired score. It’s really a loving tribute to Zelda, and shows off the console in all its glory:

Now wasn’t that special? Seems to me that all casemods should come along with such a magical launch video, don’cha think?

[Thanks for the tip, Will & Ryan!]

Hey ice boxers – I mean hockey fans! Take five and get a load of the second batch of geeky hockey jerseys by Dave Delisle. After what must have been a successful run of his Game of Thrones and Voltron jerseys, Delisle decided to make Doctor Who and Zelda jerseys. By Zelda of course, I mean Link.

That’s the TARDIS-inspired Doctor Who jersey, complete with Police Box window graphic on the front and TARDIS shoulder patches. I don’t know if it’s bigger on the inside. Below is the Zelda jersey, which I think looks more bad ass, especially with the shield graphic.

Initially, just like with the first batch Dave had three designs, with the third one based on Battlestar Galactica. Unfortunately for BSG fans NBC Universal sent him a Cease and Desist request, which Dave promptly followed. You can view the banned design on Google’s cache of Dave’s web page if you like.

The versatility and infinite use of LEGO bricks are the main reasons for the Danish toy company’s enduring success. But I think another reason why the company stays in the public’s eye is because of tie-ins with popular fictional franchises like Batman and Indiana Jones. And when it comes to video games, few franchises can claim to be as popular as The Legend of Zelda. So why not make official Zelda LEGO?

That’s exactly the idea being put forward by Michael Inglis. The pictures show some of Inglis’ designs for a theoretical LEGO Zelda set.

Inglis already makes 3D printed Zelda swords that can be used with official LEGO toys, but he’s well aware that with their resources, LEGO – and Nintendo – can do so much more for fans, not to mention their bank account.

It’s not a dangerous idea, but Inglis can’t do it alone. Build a browser out of bricks and head to Lego Cuusoo to support his concept. Cuusoo is similar to Kickstarter, except it’s LEGO’s way of crowdsourcing ideas and gauging consumer interest in said ideas. Also, you don’t have to spend or pledge any amount of money to support a concept, so go ahead and vote. Just tell LEGO not to bother with a Navi minifig.

Not happy with the lineup of games available for the Kindle Fire? Here’s some good news if you want some N64 action on your tablet. A developer has created an emulator that will allow you to play classic Nintendo 64 games on Amazon’s Kindle Fire. It’s time for some Mario Kindle. I mean Kart.

We don’t have much of information about this hack, but we know that the emulator will allow the Kindle to play at least two games: Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The controls are on the screen of the tablet.

Your Kindle Fire playing N64 games. What could be better than that? Not much I say. (Except maybe your iPad playing Nintendo games.) To see the demo video, head on over to Kotaku. Now I want to play some Mario Kart. Thanks, Internet!

Attention Zelda fans! If you’ve been debating whether or not to show up as Link at your office Halloween party this year, I think I might have the thing that pushes you over the edge. Check out this beautifully-crafted Hylian shield, perfect for protecting yourself from your co-workers (and Octorocs).

As you can see, this isn’t one of those cheap mass-produced plastic Hylian shields you can buy at a costume store. It’s a handmade shield, crafted from wood, and wrapped with hand-tooled and dyed leather and upholstery tacks. It was made by Etsy seller Aradani, who creates all sorts of fun coplay accessories for conventions and Renaissance festivals. This particular Hylian shield measures 24″ tall by 18″ wide, and is based on the silver one Link donned as the Fierce Diety in Majora’s Mask, but can also be customized with the more traditional metallic blue if you’d rather go with that look.

It’s priced at $400 (USD) over on Etsy, so it’s not exactly pocket change, but if you’re a serious Zelda fanatic, it’s a worthwhile addition to your collection, and there’s clearly a ton of labor that went into making it.

The ring is made from stainless steel and will be available in sizes 5 to 13. I’m sure many a Zelda fan would love to have it as an engagement or even a wedding ring. ‘Cause if you like it/him/her then you should put a Link on it/him/her. Being politically correct sure ruins songs.

There have been various Super Mario Bros. mods for Minecraft. We’ve also featured the upcoming Pokémon mod on Mojang’s blocky sandbox. And now, with Zelda Adventure, the migration of Nintendo’s holy trinity is finally complete. Created by Minecraft forum member Gary520, Zelda Adventure is a map that works with the Adventurecraft standalone mod for Minecraft.

The map was inspired by the original game, but Gary520 also borrows elements from different Zelda games. For example, the map’s first four dungeons were based on A Link to the Past, while the fifth dungeon was patterned after Ocarina of Time. Three more dungeons will be added in the final version of the map. As you’ll see in the trailer below, Zelda Adventure lets you play as Link in first person. The final map will also have more than 20 weapons, including the Kokiri Sword and Shield, bombs and the Ocarina of Time itself, complete with songs to play. Also the Old Man looks exactly the same. I consider that a gameplay feature.

Click to View Embedded Video Clip

Creepers are no match for the wielder of the Triforce of Courage. Summon Epona and journey to the Minecraft Forums to download the Zelda Adventure map (currently at v0.9.5). Again, you’ll also need the free AdventureCraft mod to play the map.

Each flash drive measures about 2.5″ x 1.5″ (I guess it’s two-dimensional. What an homage!) and has an LED right above the Triforce symbol.

Journey to Etsy to wield one yourself. The drive comes in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacity and sells for $34 (USD), $40, $44 and $60 respectively. No, Zantaff doesn’t accept rupees.
