8-bit? More like ate and bit amirite? No, no I’m not. Dress up as a zombie so old your guts aren’t even rendered in standard definition with the 8-bit Zombtee t-shirt. It’s a design by Luke Morgan, who lives down under in ~~the land of the undead~~ Australia.

LEGO Shaun of the Dead Concept: Yes, There’s a Tiny Rifle Included

If you’re a fan of the Shaun of the Dead, you’ve probably drooled over the pictures of the custom made LEGO set patterned after the movie that floated around the Web last year. Good news! You can help convince LEGO to turn it into a real product. To the Winchester!

Flickr contributors Yatkuu and Pixel Fox came up with the idea for the LEGO set. As you can see it includes all lead characters as well as a replica of the Winchester tavern. The tavern can be broken down per floor so you can access the interior and remake – or rewrite! – the scenes from the movie.

So here’s the plan: we pick up Shaun’s mum, pick up Liz and Di, leave David, then go to – nah, all you have to do is vote for the set on Cuusoo. LEGO will only consider making it if it gets 10,000 votes. There are about 6,000 votes for the set as of this writing, so spread the word. Simon Pegg himself approves of the project. Ed will do his monkey impression if you do too.

The Last of Us Screenshots Look Killer!

I am a sucker for movies that show the end of days after disaster, zombies, war or whatever. What would happen, and how the survivors would go on after we were most of us were gone has always been intriguing to me. Plus, The Walking Dead has me totally hooked on the post-apocalyptic zombie genre. This is why I can’t wait to play The Last of Us.

This game already looks so awesome – and we have a right to expect it to be, since it comes from Naughty Dog, the same guys behind the stellar Uncharted and Crash Bandicoot series. The game puts players in the post-apocalyptic world trying to survive and fight off other survivors that want them dead. Apparently, Some sort of infection killed off most of humanity, but that’s about all we know. Players and enemies can use old vehicles, guns, melee weapons, and anything else they can find to dominate the landscape.

It looks like it’s a game of kill or be killed in which you must collect the things you need to survive. Melee gameplay will be critical, but there’s definitely a gunplay element too. The early screenshots here are from actual gameplay, and they look great.

Between the graphics, the story and the developer’s track record, it looks like this will be one of the coolest games of the year – even if it doesn’t come out until the last day of 2012.

Biohazard & Zombie Crime Scene Tape: A Raccoon City Staple

Halloween’s still a number of months away, but evil corporations and the undead can strike anytime anyway, so we might as well stock up on these unique crime scene tapes.

You can choose from two variants – one that says “Biohazard – Stay Out” and another with the more specific message “Caution: Zombies Ahead.”

Pack some green herbs and head to ThinkGeek to order the tapes. They comes in 50ft rolls and sell for $3.99 (USD) each.

The Louisville Decapitron Will Kill Zombies, Highlander Immortals

If you are shopping for a new weapon that will behead undead Zombies and immortals alike, there can be only one DIY project for you and this is it. The aptly named Louisville Decapitron will make short work of necks so that heads roll cleanly off of gently falling bodies.

It’s a baseball bat and battle axe in one. It’s that simple. A 20-inch blade mounted to a Louisville Slugger. Great idea. I’d love to see a new sport where Zombies are let onto a Baseball field and then players can just go wild on them. First you hack the heads off with the axe end while running around in the outfield, then the game goes back to the in-field where you try to play ball using the Zombie heads. Gruesome stuff, but the Pay-Per-View revenue would make me a millionaire.

The idea (as the creator of this weapon sees it) is that “the zombies can be dealt with at close range while the living, which is after the food supply, can be beat away with the other end without causing death.” I like my idea better.

Zombie Bowling Balls: Heads Will Roll!

It’s not often that you come across creative bowling balls. Sure, there was the time we had those Star Wars balls, but they didn’t even bother to make a Death Star ball. How lame is that? Somebody needs to get to work on that. One thing that is not at all lame are these awesome zombie head bowling balls.

Each hand-painted ball features a disfigured and decapitated zombie noggin, with plenty of gore oozing forth from the strategically-placed finger holes in their eye sockets, nostrils and mouths. The gashes on the back of their heads is a nice touch too.

The zombie bowling balls were created by Jung van Matt/Elbe ad agency to help promote Germany’s 13th Street horror/science-fiction television channel. These are the same guys behind the equally clever Stationery of Horror.

Even better yet, they went around to various bowling alleys, swapping out the standard balls for these. I would so play with these if I saw them at the local alley. If nothing else, I know what my accessory should be for my Halloween costume this year.

Tactical Sammich: Because Fighting Zombie Hoards Builds up an Appetite

With the CDC recently coming out with guidelines for your own zombie apocalypse survival kit, I think you all appreciate my writings on how to be prepared for the inevitable at this point. It’s easy to focus on critical things like not getting your ass eaten off by the undead and how to protect your collection of web porn post-apocalypse, but you also need to focus on other necessities.

I have covered weapons and survival tools a lot, but I neglected the foodstuffs you will need. Zombies aren’t good eatin’ afterall. Right next to my trusty Crovel in my zombie survival kit will be the Tactical Sammich over at ThinkGeek. I could really just say this and be done – It’s a damned hot pocket with a 2-year shelf life. Most zombie fighters will just agree that I had them at “hot pocket” and move on, even if the Sammich not actually hot.

I know that some of you frou-frou zombie fighters will want to know more. It’s going to be important to keep fit when fighting zombie hoards, you don’t want to get winded after all or pull a hammy running away. The Tactical Sammich only has 300 calories, perfect for staying in fighting shape. The Sammich comes in Pepperoni and Honey BBQ flavors. The only downside is the Sammich costs $5.99 each making it a costly addition to your kit.

Insight Lightbulb Looks Like Brains, Perfect for Green Zombies

I think we all know today that the CCFL light bulb is a greener alternative to the normal light bulb. The fluorescent bulbs have some bad things about them though. The look weird, they have weird light color, and they are more expensive than incandescent bulbs. A new concept bulb from slovyovdesign has taken care of the weird looking problem, assuming you like brains.

The bulb has custom tubes that hold the fluorescent gasses that are bent to look like the crevices of your brain. This is the perfect bulb for green zombies, don’t you think? This cool bulb would be at home in the science lab or in a room where the fixture is exposed.

It looks really cool when it’s lit up. I am not sure if these are renderings or the real thing, I suspect renderings. The light looks yellow for a fluorescent. I like these things and might actually buy one, assuming it is something that can even be made.

Angry Zombie Birds: Those Poor Poor Pigs

These awesome illustrations were made by Tomasz Kaczkowski. I’m not sure if he’s planning on turning them into T-shirt designs, but I bet he’ll make a tidy sum if he does that.

Luigi4Dead: Zombie Luigi Statue

As expected, Kodykoala follows up his Mecha Luigi statue with a zombified version of the other Mario brother. Not even Koopa would want to mess with this bad dude.

Damn that’s nasty. Kodykoala used a 6″ vinyl figure to make Zombie Luigi, making him 4″ smaller than Mecha Luigi. Check out the back view in the gallery to get a peek at Luigi’s brain.

You can bid for Zombie Luigi at eBay. As of this writing, the starting bid is a mere $0.99 (USD), but I’m sure the price will still go up before the bidding is over, especially when the person who bought Zombie Yoshi finds out about it.

Yoshi Becomes Zombie, Mario Left 4 Dead

After mechanizing Mario’s dinosaur companion, Flickr user Kodykoala drains the life out of Yoshi.

That’s one nasty zombie. Kodykoala also answered my only complaint about Mecha Yoshi and added the dinosaur’s trademark tongue, making him a prehistoric version of the Smoker from Left4Dead.

I’m sure Sears just won the approval of CURE with this move.

Red Undead Redemption: Dlc Infests Old West With Zombies

Red Dead Redemption already has its fair share of abominable monsters, like the bird-people, the donkey woman and the hella scary cougar man. But Rockstar’s going to intentionally add one more inhuman enemy in their next DLC (after the Liars and Cheats pack, which drops on September 21). Said DLC is called Undead Nightmares, and will feature “an entirely new mostly single-player campaign that follows John Marston as he tries to find a cure for the highly infectious zombie plague that has spread across the frontier.”

Rockstar also said that the Undead Nightmares pack will also bring “brand new gameplay mechanics, weapons, zombie animals, mythical creatures and even a brand new secret location.”

Let’s see – I bet they’re going to add a tower defense game mechanic, a bunch of plant weapons, zombie Yeti, the original dancing Zombie, and a house, respectively. Yep, sounds about right. The DLC will be released before the year ends on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 for $10 (USD)/800 of Microsoft’s silly currency.

Left 4 Dead 8-Bit: Play 4 Free

Haven’t played Left 4 Dead yet because your computer is ancient? Well now you can!.. sort of. Just download Eric Ruth’s 8-bit version of Left 4 Dead. It’s the same maps, the same monsters, and the same characters, except in glorious 8-bit! Also it’s not scary anymore, but beggars can’t be choosers.

I think the most frightening thing in Pixel Force:Left 4 Dead is Zoey’s face in the character select screen:

Actually all the portraits are creepy. Seriously though, Eric himself said that he didn’t intend his version to make an exact copy of Valve’s game: “I want to make it very clear that the design aspect of this de-make was to create the game “Left 4 Dead” in a way that I feel it would have been handled back in 1986. The idea was NOT to remake it exactly like the Valve original.” You might also want to check out Eric’s response on YouTube to some of the comments on the video below for more details on the creation of the game.

Original Cast Revived for First Left 4 Dead 2 Dlc

The thing about zombies is that they’re kind of hard to get rid of, and it seems like the same is true of zombie-fighting survivors. The first DLC pack is already scheduled for Left 4 Dead 2, and the cast of the original – Bill, Louis, Zoey, and the everything-hating Francis – are set to make an appearance in the new campaign.

The new campaign, fittingly named “The Passing,” is described as the most important in all the games, as it’s the culmination of everyone’s struggle for survival. “The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign,” said Valve’s Doug Lombardi. “It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry.”

Let’s hope the new guys are a little less creepy than the Mudmen. As for the new game modes, the most interesting addition is referred to as a new type of co-op challenge – survivors vs. survivors in a race to the safe room? Sign me up. Too bad you can’t mix and match. I’d take Coach and Francis any day, for hilarity’s sake.

“The Passing” is set for sometime in early 2010.

Valve Hopes You’Ll Wish Everyone a Very Zombie Christmas

Plain ol’ holiday cards can just be so bland: stars, snowy evenings, cultural or religious imagery… eh. You know what I like in my holidays? Co-op games and zombies. All the better if I can get them all on one little piece of paper which I can then send to all my friends. Or at least my co-op buddies.

Ah, nothing says Christmas like undulating peppermint tongue. Valve is offering up sets of cards for $15.95 apiece, in addition to their normal stock of t-shirts and other swag. Left 4 Dead is available, as shown above, but do you really want to go with last year’s zombie game? It’s time to get up in the new hotness, children:

All that’s missing from these Left 4 Dead 2 cards is me getting my hind end kicked all around the Dark Carnival finale. Fortunately, I can see that on my Xbox any ol’ time.

Zombie-Infested Wedding Cake Shows Couple Sticking Together While Tearing Undead Apart

Flickr member noblerobinette (aka Claudia) and her husband had one of the best cakes I’ve ever seen. The cake itself wasn’t too fancy. It looked like most wedding cakes, complete with figurines of the bride and the groom. But add chainsaws and zombies to the mix, and you get a hilarious wedding cake.

The couple chose a zombie-themed cake because her husband liked zombies. He and his friends even made a zombie-filled short film which he used to propose to Claudia.

Also Claudia says that the zombies in the wedding cake were made to look like their wedding party. They’re not friends anymore. Kidding.

The Lone Wanderer in Brickville [Fallout 3]

With all the attention Borderlands is getting, I feel it’s important to remember that other futuristic game with important vaults: Fallout 3. And what better way to remember anything than with LEGO?

And, of course, the best thing to immortalize in brick from from Fallout 3? The two-headed mutant cattle (and shotguns). Add in a Deathclaw and I’ll declare myself BioniSean’s biggest fan.

Actually, on second thought? Hold the Deathclaws.

Prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse With First Aid Pack Tee

You know what goes well with guns and gore? First aid kits. And thanks to the ThinkGeek folks, you can keep yours close. So close, in fact, that it’s two dimensional.

I’m pretty sure a picture of a first aid kit isn’t going to help you much, in the event of a real zombie apocalypse, though, so as cool as this t-shirt is, please, prepare accordingly. You never know when the hordes will rise up against the untainted! But in the meantime, you can use this shirt to weed out the people who have good taste.
