The Zumreed X2 Hybrid Headphones have a lithium-ion battery that will give you a bit over four hours of speaker time, and can be recharged via a USB cable in just under an hour. The headphones themselves are noise canceling, and of overall impressive quality. Because of this, and the fact that they are also speakers, these headphones cost $159.99(USD). Kids, start saving your pennies, because you’re buying me these headphones. “Sir, you were supposed to tell us about your career.” What? “It’s career day. This is an elementary school.” Wait, I don’t even have a kid – how did I get here? Can I adopt one? I actually have a presentation I could give – “You should leave now.”

Headphones are not often as unique as the Zumreed X2 Hybrids, so you should get yours and distinguish yourself from that crowd of people who aren’t as cool as you. Created by Japan’s I Love New Yoku, the Projector Pot (Relaxing Ocean) transports you to the open seas any time you dim the lights. Just set the Projector Pot on any surface, power it on, and turn down your lights. The 4-inch cube has a bright battery-powered LED light source that casts moving patterns that are reminiscent of water reflections off the top of a body of water.

Now the bad part is that unless you live in Japan, you’ll have to wait to relax. At this point, the Projector Pot is only available in its native land (priced at ¥3990 – appx $40 USD). I’m hopeful that the guys over at Audiocubes will bring these into the States, as they’re already importing other goodies from the same company. For the time being, you’ll just have to go to the real ocean.

Inside the transparent red plastic orb of the Zumreed Flash Beat is a downward-firing speaker, surrounded by a rapidly spinning pink light. As your tunes kick in, the light reacts instantaneously to the beat of the music.

And even though it’s under 9-inches tall, it’s powerful enough to fill a large room according to the product description (Caveat Emptor, of course). Just connect the speaker to your iPod or even a video game system, and you’ll have yourself a self-contained audiovisual extravaganza.

Originally available only in Japan, the guys over at Audiocubes have brought in a limited number of these for you to enjoy stateside for $189.99 each.

The mini speaker is small enough to carry on your keychain, hang from a briefcase, bookbag or purse strap. In keeping with the turntable theme, volume is controlled by spinning the mini platter (which also happens to be the speaker grill) clockwise or counterclockwise.

They’re available in three colors: black, white and orange, and aren’t much bigger than your average media player. Each speaker has a built-in rechargeable battery which gives about 3 hours of sound for a 1 hour charge in you computer’s USB port.

I haven’t had any luck finding these outside of Japan so far, but if you happen to speak the language, you might be able to grab one over on Dreams6 for ¥2980 (about $32 USD).

ZumReed’s Sound Ball speaker hangs on your key chain or a book bag, and plugs into the audio jack on your iPod or other media player when your ready to play your tunes.

The little plastic ball comes in pink, lime green and purple, and has a built-in rechargeable battery (charges via USB). Personally, I’d paint mine white and draw in a bloodshot eyeball on the speaker grill.

No word on availability outside of Japan, but if you want to deal with an overseas transaction, head on over to Dreams6 and plunk down your ¥2,480 (appx. $24 USD).

Zumreed has released these nifty little gadgets which looks just like the classic Volkswagen van. Hidden inside is a fully functional stereo, with an AM/FM tuner and a LCD alarm clock (hidden on the rear of the minibus.) It’s even got a 3.5mm jack so you can hook up your MP3 player to it. The mini radio measures about 7″ long by 3″ high and comes in a variety of colors, but the classic two-tone red and beige is my favorite. The stereo can run off of battery, AC or USB power, so it’s also perfect as a speaker system for a small PC.

The VW Minibus radio retails for ¥8190 (appx. $68 USD), and can be found at Japanese online retailer Abide.

The unique ZumReed Drop Speaker looks like a water droplet, and features a hidden nook that securely docks your iPod on the inside. It even features external volume and playback controls that are waterproof, so you can control your iPod with wet hands.

The Drop Speaker comes in orange, white and teal colors, and costs ¥4988 (appx. $42 USD) from Japanese retailer Dreams6.
