11 Songs That Never Fail To Bring Happiness

Music has brought joy to people’s lives for as long as we can remember. A perfect song can change our mood for many reasons. Music can be as beneficial as therapy, whether re-living a lost memory or liking a simple melody. There are so many examples, but some songs hit our core differently.

1. “You’re My Best Friend” — Queen

Freddie Mercury left us too soon, but his legacy impacts everyone who listens to his music. Music lovers have been cheering themselves up by listening to his voice for years, but “You’re My Best Friend” might be the one that cheers them up the fastest. Share a sing-along with your best friend the next time this comes on the radio.

2. “No Rain” — Blind Melon

The song is so full of melancholy and somber tones that it brings a smile to the listener’s face. It reminds me to slow down and enjoy the little things in life, like watching the puddles gather rain. Want to take that smile to the next level? Enjoy the music video that accompanies the song. The girl in the bee costume will crack the grumpiest person.

3. “Brown-Eyed Girl” — Van Morrison

I dare you to put this track on and not instantly start to sing along. It is a brilliant love song to reminisce about being young and in love. Roll down the car windows and get ready to belt out the chorus: “Sha-la-la-la-la-la.” Such a fun song. Now I’m smiling.

4. “Hey Ya” — Outkast

Outkast will prepare you to jump up and cut a rug if you feel like dancing. The group taught us to shake it like a Polaroid picture, and ice cold is the only thing cooler than being cool. Come on, say it with me, “Shake it, Shake it, Shake it, Shake it like a Polaroid picture!”

5. “We Are Family” — Sister Sledge

Ladies, grab your girlfriends and hit the dance floor when the DJ plays this jam. What song brings a group of people together faster than this hit from Sister Sledge? They’ve got all their sisters together! Sounds like a fun party.

6. “Dancing Queen” — ABBA

The Swedish group ABBA can start a party in your car during a rush hour traffic jam at the drop of the first beat. I have friends who refuse to dance but find themselves tapping their toes when this disco jam starts playing. We’re all dancing queens for a few minutes while we dance our cares away.

7. “Happy” — Pharrell Williams

This song must be mentioned because the title tells you to be happy. Pharell dropped this banger, telling us to be happy, and it works like a charm. It’s just a feel-good song that will instantly turn your mood around. Try putting the tune on next time you wake up on the wrong side of the bed. You can thank me later.

8. “Here Comes the Sun” — The Beatles

This is a special song for me. It’s so comforting listening to the simple melody and soothing lyrics. It is a perfect song to pair with my morning coffee. It reminds me that good things will come my way. Sometimes, we must let things go and believe everything will fall into place.

9. “You Shook Me All Night Long” — AC/DC

If you’re in a quiet bar or at a mellow gathering, put on this epic rock anthem, and you’ll witness a party unfold before your eyes. It’s almost against the laws of nature for anyone between 40 and 60 not to start dancing and singing along. Want to test this theory? Play this song at Christmas when your uncle is asleep in the recliner. I guarantee he’ll open an eye and start singing along.

10. “Humpty Dance” — Digital Underground

Have you ever done the Humpty Dance? It’s really easy to do. “You just look like MC Hammer on crack!” That’s according to the lyrics, anyway. I don’t know what that means, but it’s a fun song. Keep your body in motion and have a good time with this funky jam.

11. “I Want It That Way” — Backstreet Boys

I was too shy to admit I loved this boy band in high school. But, as an adult, I am a loud and proud Backstreet Boys fan. They recorded hit after hit in the 90s and 2000s and still hold up today. Millenials everywhere will gather around whenever this song comes on the loudspeaker. Which member was your favorite? I was a Nick Carter guy.
