15 Luxury Car Features We Can’t Wait To See on Normal Cars

We non-wealthy people might be jealous of the high-end and innovative features luxury car owners get to enjoy. However, most of these bells and whistles eventually trickle down to more affordable brands, so it’s only a matter of time before we can enjoy them, too.

We may daydream about these luxury goodies when driving our plain-Jane sedans. We want to discuss the most dazzling features, not the unexciting ones.

Of course, many luxury cars have unmatched safety features, assisted driving, and self-parking systems. However, some of these amazing features could be argued to be completely unnecessary. That’s why we call them luxury.

1. Heated Steering Wheel

If you’ve never struggled to drive to work in the morning because your steering wheel was as cold as ice, consider yourself lucky. An easy solution is a pair of gloves or taking more time to warm up your car in the morning.

The fun, luxury solution is a heated steering wheel. Heated seats are now more common in standard vehicles, and although heated steering wheels are still more often found in high-end vehicles, they’re starting to make their way to non-luxury brands.

2. Seat Massagers

Heated seats pale in comparison to seat massagers. Auto manufacturers essentially installed a slim massage chair in a car. This is ideal for folks who spend hours in their cars and frequently take long road trips.

Most cars only have massagers for the driver or for the driver and front passenger. These specialty seats offer lumbar support, shoulder massages, neck massages, and customizable sequences. This feature can eliminate the discomfort of driving for long periods.

3. Panoramic Sunroof

Sunroofs have been around for decades, even for lower-end vehicles. The new twist is a panoramic sunroof, which gives you a wide sky view and makes the car’s interior feel open and spacious.

These sunroofs often occupy most of the vehicle’s top, creating an impressive, modern vibe. Some vehicles even have starlight or tinted settings on the roof for a whimsical or private look — or to reduce sun glare.

4. Mini-Fridge

Most of us have probably been in a situation where we’d die for a small fridge in our vehicle. Maybe you have restaurant leftovers but want to see a movie after dinner or have cold sandwiches for a road trip.

Whatever your situation, one day, you may be able to enjoy a tiny fridge in your car. Many luxury vehicles now have this feature. Some are champagne chillers, while others are large enough for a whole picnic feast.

5. Backseat Blinds

If you have little ones, you know how easily kids fall asleep in the backseat. You can make it a little cozier for them by closing the electric blinds on the side windows.

You can install blinds on your backseat windows and manually pull them up and down, but that’s not as impressive and posh as this option. The electric blinds open and close with the push of a button, so you can let backseat passengers sleep without interruption.

6. Plush Rugs

Car carpets are not usually the pinnacle of softness and comfort. These rugs endure a lot, like mud, dirt, snow, sports cleats, and more. They’re usually durable and unattractive. However, new luxury cars are raising standards and expectations.

Some high-class cars now come with super plush lambswool rugs. You can squish your toes into the soft material and feel at home. We don’t want to think about how tough they are to clean, but those with luxury vehicles probably have someone else do the cleaning.

7. Built-In Umbrellas

This feature seems random, but it’s thoughtful and convenient. Sometimes, the weather person misses the mark and neglects to predict rain. When this happens, you may be out and about without an umbrella or raincoat.

Those with luxury cars needn’t worry; many come with a built-in umbrella on the driver’s door. The umbrella fits snugly in a designated compartment and stays in the car permanently.

8. Heated and Cooled Cupholders

Cupholders that keep our beverages at the perfect temperature sound like a dream. Many luxury cars have cupholders that can maintain or change your beverage’s temperature.

If your coffee gets cold at work, you can heat it up in your car on the way home. If it’s 90ºF outside and your vanilla milkshake is melting, you can chill it with your fancy cupholder. We really hope this one makes it into affordable cars soon.

9. Biometric Secure Storage

This feature feels like something out of a James Bond movie, but luxury car owners get to enjoy it every day. Biometric storage spaces require fingerprints, iris scans, or facial images to open, similar to the features that unlock iPhones.

Leaving valuables in your car can be stressful, but taking them to places like a beach or party is worse. With this feature, people can lock their valuable items securely in their cars and out of sight.

10. Backseat Tables

Backseat tables are wonderful for kids who want to snack during a long drive. They’re similar to airplane tray tables but of much higher quality — not the cheap plastic you might expect. High-end cars have backseat tables that drop down from the back of the front seats.

These tables are typically made of stainless steel or other luxurious materials. They provide a sturdy surface for backseat passengers to eat, write, play games, or do anything else they might want to do.

11. Fragrance Dispenser

Once the new car smell wears off, your car may not smell as pleasant as you want it to. Premium vehicles are now offered with subtle fragrance dispensers that keep a pleasant smell in the air.

These dispensers are not overpowering or intense; they use simple fragrances. Car owners can choose the fragrance and switch it up with the seasons. The feature seems minor, but research shows scents can greatly impact our comfort and mood.

12. Picnic Setup

Aside from the convenience of a compact fridge, some luxury vehicles have all the gear needed for a fabulous picnic. It’s perfect for those who love a spontaneous adventure.

These setups differ substantially among brands, but many feature drinking glasses, plates, bowls, cutlery, and even serving utensils. With these ready-to-go items, you can pick up some food and head straight to your picnic spot.

13. Infrared Night Vision

This is technically a safety feature, but it also offers more comfort and peace for the driver. Driving at night is difficult in areas with low light and poor visibility. Infrared night vision helps you see what’s ahead a little better.

Using this feature, the car looks ahead of the headlights for you and can alert you to upcoming objects. The car scouts out what’s ahead and then reports back to you so you’re prepared.

14. Seat Coolers and Ventilation

Seat warmers are one of the luxury features that trickled down to affordable vehicles. Now, seat coolers are the new thing. Even the strongest air conditioner can’t cool down your back if it’s pressed against a fabric seat.

The seat coolers offer a chilly feeling beneath you that cools down your entire body instantly. Many premium cars also have seat ventilation, allowing air to move through the seat to prevent that sticky, hot feeling.

15. Gesture Control

Gesture control is one of the most impressive technological advancements we hope to have in our middle-class cars one day. This feature allows the driver to do various things using simple hand gestures.

Rather than fumbling for the volume knob or searching for the AC button while trying to drive, you can just make a little gesture, and the car will complete your request. It’s like sign language for cars, and it’s much safer because you don’t have to take your eyes off the road.
