3D-printed by woodworker and maker of things Fabien Pohl (aka deadpohl), this massive LEGO minifig is a scale replica of its tiny counterpart, just WAY more giant. Fabien printed all the oversized pieces using a Creality K1 Max 3D printer specifically designed for larger print jobs. I must have one– the printer AND the giant minifig, just to be clear.
Fabien first prints all the individual pieces and then sands them down to remove that 3D-printed linear texture before applying paint to give them a smooth, glossy finish. The final result is most impressive, and if I had a Creality K1 Max, you better believe it would be busy printing my own figure right now. I don’t have a K1 Max though, or any 3D printer, so instead I’ll be using what we did before 3D printers existed: Play-Doh and popsicle sticks.
You may have noticed the minifig is actually a giant LEGO version of Fabien himself. I bet there’s a market for humongous minifig versions of people. I’m going to start an Etsy store to find out. And with enough orders, I might actually be able to afford the 3D printer to make them.
