Wowwee, known best for their Robosapien and Roboraptor educational toy robots has revealed two new models they’ll be showing off at this week’s CES show. The two new models couldn’t be more different, with one being cute and cuddly, and the other ready to eat the cute and cuddly one. The $229 Robopanda is geared towards children will be able to interact with the world via a variety of touch, infrared and audio sensors.

With all of the cool control possibilities that the Nintendo Wii has opened us up to, it’s no wonder that someone has started to explore the possibilities with Nintendo’s other darling, the DS portable gaming system. The DS Motion Card plugs into the DS or DS Lite card slot and features a three-axis accelerometer and a one-axis gyroscope to send a player’s movements to the DS. At this point, there isn’t a way to use the card with off-the-shelf games, so you’ll need to mod your DS to play homebrew titles.

A recently filed patent application from Sony shows that they are working on a technology that is similar to that in the ubiquitous (and superfluous) Segway Human Transporter. The patent abstract, titled “Vehicle steerable by movement of center of gravity” describes the invention as follows: …a vehicle which can travel in the front and back direction and which can turn by right and left wheels rotated when a rider riding on a step-board moves the position of rider’s balance from the center of a vehicle base.

Known primarily for their scanners and other peripherals, Microtek has announced the release of their new line of reasonably priced plasma televisions. Microtek’s new Cineon line of plasma displays includes 42-inch (CP42HA) and a 50-inch (CP50HA) models, ranging from $1600 to $2200 retail. Both sets feature WXGA (1366×768) resolution and can handle 480p, 720p and 1080i source signals.
