Robots can be really neat, or useful, or even both. And then sometimes, robots can be fish. Whether that’s neat or useful depends mostly on how you feel about fish. Or about robots that look like dead fish.
The eye! It follows me! But creepy fish eye is part of the realism, and the sea bream robot was built to exacting specifications based on the movement of real fish. The robot, which was built by the Yamamoto Laboratory, will be used for research.
The crowd is clearly impressed with the fishbot, and for good reason–there’s no easy way to tell the difference between the fishbot and the real thing. Well, until you try to have it for dinner, anyway.
