Arcade Button Box Does Away With Pesky Screens and Joysticks

 |  |  |  |  |  |  March 28, 2010

Arcade fanatic Steve D’Angelo must have been longing for the sounds of his favorite classic arcade games when he decided to build himself this interactive sculpture.

Simply called “Action Buttons,” the handmade plywood and box is loaded up with real arcade controls, connected to a circuit that plays back familiar sounds of arcade days gone by. See (erm, hear)  if you can identify the games all of the sounds came from.

Cool, no? I have to say the Super Zapper sounds a bit like a toilet flushing, though. The idea kind of reminds me of those funny Bandai Mousou keychains that do the same thing, but don’t require any skill with plywood or paint.
