It seems that the megapixel count in digital cameras won’t stop climbing. That’s also true for camera phones. Or phone cameras. Whichever way you put it, the new phone from Altek has a 14MP, now that’s quite a lot for something so small.
So should you abandon your dSLR? The phone’s megapixel count is actually higher than the my Nikon D200, but just like any photographer will tell you, it’s not just about the megapixels, it’s about the size of the sensor inside, and of course, the quality of the optics.
Altek’s Leo has a 3× optical zoom, 720p HD video recording capabilities, a touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, LED and Xenon flashes. The rumor-mill says that it will be powered by Google Android. The phone will be launched in June in Singapore. More details should surface then.
