iPhone haters really like to rag on the fact that the phone has no actually keys, only virtual ones. This somewhat impractical, but clever add-on aims to fix that shortcoming.
By taking a small wireless Bluetooth keyboard, and crafting a hinged mount for it, modder Pachimon managed to do what we once thought was impossible – give the iPhone actual keys!
To pull this off, he used a TE-382 BT Bluetooth keyboard and crafted hinges from simple transparent Scotch tape.
If you want to put one together for yourself, you might have a hard time finding that keyboard outside of China or Japan. But according to my calculations, Brando’s Mini “Plam-Size” Bluetooth Keyboard is virtually the same height as an iPhone 4 (114mm vs. 115mm), so you should be able to do the same with one of those.
Sure, it’s completely unreasonable to expect that you’d cram that fat iPhone into your pocket – and hinges made out of cheap tape on a fragile glass gadget scare the bejeezus out of us, but it still achieves its primary purpose, no?
