Proof that it’s still very much loved, a micro SD card adapter was recently made available for Sega’s last console. The adapter makes use of the Dreamcast’s serial port and comes with a boot disk, letting users run a plethora of emulators, homebrew games as well as play xvid video files and music.
The emulators supported are FC, DC, MD, SFC, GBA, GBC, PCE, NEOGEOCD and MAME. In other words, the souls of other dead systems can be reincarnated on your dreamy Dreamcast. Now for the obvious question – the manufacturer, Tao Bao, claims that you can also use the adapter to play retail games, but not all games will run smoothly with it, because of the limited transfer speed on the serial port.
You can order the micro SD adapter at Tao Bao’s website (it’s in Chinese) for 35元 (appx. $5 USD).
