This Artwork was Made Due to Licensing Constraints
Good thing there’s no such thing as a Hulu for pictures (not yet anyway), or else we might not be able to see Paul Mutant’s painting: Check out the full sized pic of Mutant’s “This painting is not available in your country” (acrylic on canvas) on his Flickr page.

Tetris: Le Film

Tetris: Le Film
Everyone’s favorite block-stacking puzzler makes its big-screen debut in Tetris: le Film. Yeah, the only French I know is “Je voudrais une omelette au fromage“ but retro games are the universal language, no? non?

Tulipk Lamp Printed in 3d, Designed in Microsoft Excel

Tulipk Lamp Printed in 3d, Designed in Microsoft Excel
While this definitely isn’t the first time I’ve seen a lamp designed on a computer, it’s definitely the first one I’ve seen where the primary design tool was Microsoft Excel. Ben Geebelen used Excel to create the pattern on his TulipK lamp, then used software called 3-matic and output it to a 3D printer to generate the tulip petals.

Xkcd’S Updated Map of Online Communities: Farmville is Going to Take Over

Xkcd’S Updated Map of Online Communities: Farmville is Going to Take Over
The webcomic xkcd has just released a new version of the map of online communities. The word is that Farmville is taking over more and more of the world. Well, maybe not, but seriously, Facebook is taking up a lot of space. A lot of thought went into their new world map, including “statistical inference, random sampling, non-random sampling, a 20,000-cell spreadsheet, emailing, cajoling, tea leaf reading, goat sacrifices” as well as just plain “making stuff up.”

Mac-in-the-Box

Mac-in-the-Box
The guys at 1 Block Off the Grid needed a high-end Mac to run Adobe After Effects, but instead of buying an expensive Mac Pro, they decided to build their own computer. Normally that would be nothing to write home about, but the 1BOG staff really put the hack in Hackintosh.

Geek Sinks Htpc in Mineral Oil for Bioshock Casemod

Geek Sinks Htpc in Mineral Oil for Bioshock Casemod
Casemods can be cool and often they are very ornate things that I couldn’t hope to replicate because I lack the talent for artistic things. Now a modder going by the moniker “sirleechalot” has shown off his new Bioshock casemod, and this one not only looks cool, it’s something that I think I could build.
