Bang & Olufsen Beosound 8 iPod Dock: for This Price, I’D Rather Get a Macbook Air

Luxury electronics manufacturer Bang & Olufsen are entering the iPod/iPhone accessory market with the BeoSound 8, which is set to take the world by storm. Well, honestly, it’s just another iPod dock. At least this one looks cool.

After checking what £895 came to in US Dollars (appx. $1450), it’s probably more of a MacBook Pro 15 than a MacBook Air. Actually, in the US, it will sell for $999, so we’re back with the MacBook Air instead. For that price, you get two 70W speakers, powered by two amps each. The dock will work with iPhones, iPods and even the iPad (which looks kind of ridiculous sitting on top of the thing.)

It also has a USB port as well as auxiliary ports to connect to your computer or play music from other music players, but is really optimized for Apple devices, especially when used with the upcoming BeoPlayer App.

The BeoSound 8 will be available by the end of November, and will come in black or white with aluminum details, and a choice of several colorful speaker grille covers.
