Designer and iconographer Susan Kare made some of the icons that appeared on the original Macintosh personal computer. Her limited edition icon prints make for a unique gift for the long-time Apple fan.

These very same icons were previously available as little notecards, but this time they’re available in sizes up to 30″ x 40″.  Being of generation OS X, I don’t have hands-on experience with any of these icons, but judging from their descriptions I’d think twice before buying the bomb icon, because it signified a system failure.

You can order these and more classic Mac icons from Susan Kare’s website. They each cost $89 (USD) up to $499 depending on the size. Each print will be signed and numbered by Kare in pencil. I bet none of the people who first used the Macintosh ever thought that the icons would be considered as works of art.
