I happen to think one of the most useless inventions known to man is the decorative soap. My wife loves this stuff though, and has little flowers and dainty bars in the bathrooms around the house that we aren’t allowed to use.

While still popular among many gamers, Dell’s Alienware gaming computers have acquired a reputation of being way too expensive, particularly when compared to similarly spec’d computers. Designers Chih-Wei Wang and Shou-Hsi Fu think that in the future, music albums could be packaged not just in a compact medium, but one that integrates a music player as well. Their concept device Skinny Player is a lot simpler and thinner than the iPod Shuffle, incorporating storage, a battery, a play/stop button and speakers into a Band-Aid-like form factor.

Leave it to the Japanese to create yet another specialized robot to do a job that previously only a human could do. Developed by Japan’s National Agricultural and Food Research Organization [JP] this award winning robot [JP] can delicately pluck individual strawberries from the vine.

Here’s something I bet you never knew. When used properly, Google Translate doesn’t just translate words. Nope, it’s actually a fully-functional drum machine if you know how to use it.
