SolaR2-D2 Robot Has a Sunny Disposition

SolaR2-D2 Robot Has a Sunny Disposition
Assuming that R2-D2 is roaming the surface of Tatooine, what with its dual suns, this solar-powered R2 unit would probably never have to worry about running out of power. This remote-controlled, solar R2 unit was created by Kimura and Daisuke Goto, engineering students at Japan’s Hiroshima International University, for no other reason than to prove that R2 could automatically recharge himself if left in a sunny place.

Ouku M98A Android Tablet Sells for Under $125

Ouku M98A Android Tablet Sells for Under $125
There are few markets where the old adage “you get what you pay for” are more true than in the gadget market. You can spend a bit less money and get a device that is far less useful on the smartphone and tablet market.

PolyPly Stand is Perfect for the Apple Gear Polygamist

PolyPly Stand is Perfect for the Apple Gear Polygamist
There is a technical term known as the shit-ton, which I learned in college. It’s hard to quantify a shit-ton of anything (technically it’s more than a butt-load), but we all know it when we see it.

Guitar Shotgun: An Axe and a Gun in One

Guitar Shotgun: An Axe and a Gun in One
I always thought those flicks with Antonio Banderas where his guitar case is actually a gun were pretty cool. The police recently seized the weapon that Banderas should have had from a man in Sweden. The local police in Luleå, a little town in Northern Sweden, raided the home of a man and found number of illegal weapons after receiving an anonymous tip.

NEC ArmKeypad is Going to be a Hit with Masochists

NEC ArmKeypad is Going to be a Hit with Masochists
NEC has invented a pair of wristbands that lets you control a device just by clapping or tapping specific spots on your arms. Called the ArmKeypad, the wristbands detect the movements with their built-in accelerometers. NEC thinks it will be useful to people who like to listen to music while they run or jog, I think it could be a simple alternative to the TV remote control.

iPad 2 Shotgunned by Zagg, Sets High Expectations for Their iPad Cases

iPad 2 Shotgunned by Zagg, Sets High Expectations for Their iPad Cases
While a lot of Apple fans out there are no doubt crying themselves to sleep because they still don’t have an iPad 2, iOS accessory maker Zagg decided to shoot five brand new units of Apple’s latest tablet with a shotgun for an advertisement, and just to rub it in, the ad is in slow-motion. Here’s the massacre, which also counts a ball and a fruit as casualties: What a waste of a good watermelon.

Rubber Laptop Bags Won’t Bounce

Rubber Laptop Bags Won’t Bounce
These rubber bags aren’t made to haul your trash, but to haul your precious laptop around. The Rubber Bag Collection from PKG is made from recycled rubber, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t stylish. They can hold and protect laptops from 13-inch up to 16-inch models.

R2-D2 iPhone Case: Turn Your iPhone into a Droid

R2-D2 iPhone Case: Turn Your iPhone into a Droid
R2-D2 has already made his way to smartphones, but only if you want to own a Motorola. But what if you want to make your iPhone look like a droid? And by droid, I don’t mean Android!

Wooden Xbox Console: Timber!

Wooden Xbox Console: Timber!
No matter how hard you might try, this Xbox just won’t power on, and it’ll never play Halo either. That’s because it’s made entirely out of wood. Sculptor Ben Winfield actually carved himself up both an Original Xbox and its chunky controller. It looks like a very accurate reproduction to me, complete with carved Xbox logo, power and eject buttons, and four controller ports.

Fun With Old Ink Cartridges

Fun With Old Ink Cartridges
Got some leftover inkjet cartridges lying around? You could just send them back to the factory so they can be recycled – er, cleaned out, refilled and then sold to some other sucker for way too much money – or, you could make some lamps out of them – or, you could do this:

Portal Mirrors: Don’t Walk Into These Unless You Want 14 Years Bad Luck

Portal Mirrors: Don’t Walk Into These Unless You Want 14 Years Bad Luck
Redditor Corttana and her husband made these mirrors for their Portal-themed basement.  They’ll take you to where you’re already at. They achieved the vortexy Portal outlines simply by looping up appropriately-colored rope lights at the back of each mirror.

Twitterrific Mascot: Yours For Less Than $140

Twitterrific Mascot: Yours For Less Than $140
…in fact, you can have Ollie for way less than $1 a character.  Just to be clear, Ollie’s the mascot of Twitter client Twitterrific, not Twitter itself. But in a way he’s actually better, because Twitter’s mascot is just a silhouette of a bird.

Cthulhu Suction Cup Plush: Way Cuter than Garfield

Cthulhu Suction Cup Plush: Way Cuter than Garfield
Anyone who’s a fan of the Cthulhu Mythos and HP Lovecraft will enjoy putting this Peeping Cthulhu Suction Cup Plush in the back window of their car. It’s the combination of things, the cuteness of the plush toy, the fact that Cthulhu was never meant to be cute, and the fact that most people driving behind you will have no idea what the hell it is that makes this one a winner. Yes, we all know that Cthulhu is watching us, but this peeping Cthulhu will allow you to scare anyone who’s looking at your windows.

Star Wars Typography Quotes Classic Lines

Star Wars Typography Quotes Classic Lines
Remember those awesome typographic Star Wars posters? While these ones may not be as visually dynamic as those, Jerod Gibson had the brilliant idea of using actual quotes from Star Wars to create his version. These great posters are available for purchase as well, so that they can adorn your walls in typographic and Star Wars goodness.

DIVpc is One Angry Drunk Computer Casemod

DIVpc is One Angry Drunk Computer Casemod
This computer looks a little pissed – and by that I mean that he looks both angry and drunk. And whatever you do, don’t mess with his bottle of Wild Turkey or you might end up with the dreaded Blue Screen of Death. Flickr contributor weirdo513 shot this pic over at the PAX East 2011 BYOC event, which led me to dig some under some rocks to turn up some details in this thing.

Is Your iPod Feeling Horny? Mate Its Bottom With This Speaker Dock
This gigantic speaker dock for iDevices uses LG Hausys’ HI-MACS material so that it can deliver a full spectrum of sound with minimal vibrations. It was designed by Korean architect Shi-Hyung Jeon to mimic traditional Han-bok and Beo-seon clothes.
