Actually this lamp doesn’t have anything to do with Katamari Damacy, but it sure looks like it, doesn’t it? Designer Paola Pivi’s Nice Ball is a hanging lamp covered with tiny replicas of 80 chairs and tables from the Vitra Design Museum collection.
To me, it looks like the Prince rolled his Katamari around a designer furniture store to create this lamp. About the only thing it’s missing for it to be complete is some little flailing people and the occasional pig or cow stuck to its outside. Maybe it’s just not big enough, and it can’t pick those up yet.
Given the fact that the tiny furniture replicas ost hundreds of dollars each, I can only guess that each of these lamp cost over $25,000 to make. Now that’s an expensive Katamari.
