I love my home country of the good old U.S. of A., but sometimes it seems as if Japan seems to get all the good stuff before we do. For instance, I can’t walk down the street in my city and find myself a robot to serve me ice cream. Nope, for that, I have to fly to Japan. And travel backwards in time.
This Yaskawa-kun robot does away with those disaffected, gum-smacking teens working at the neighborhood Dairy Queen, and replaces them with a disaffected, gum-smacking robot. Ok, Yaskawa-kun doesn’t chew gum, but it will fix you a mean waffle bowl. Simply choose your dessert preferences on the Robo-Cone touchscreen, and ta-da – SUNDAE!
Here, see what I mean…
This particular robot ice cream maker was on display last year at Tokyo Summerland, so not only is he on the other side of the world, I don’t think he’s there anymore! There’s no word on if or when you’ll ever be served by a robotic ice cream vendor here in the States, but if you’re ever in Japan, and see this guy cranking out sundaes, you’d better stop and eat 2 or 3 for me.
