by Shane McGlaun

I am a car guy, I take my car to lots of different racing events, and often I record the event with my GoPro camera that sticks to the windshield. My son is a little car guy and he collects how wheels cars. Mattel has a new car for kids that is sort of like a GoPro car-cam for the kids.

We first told you about the Hot Wheels Video Racer back in January, and it’s now available for purchase. The camera car is a little larger than a normal Hot Wheels car, but has a camera inside to record the racing action the kids get up to. The car has 12 minutes of integrated memory and a little LCD screen on the bottom to view the video. The video can also be shot out to a computer for editing and storage. No word on video resolution, but it does capture at 30fps.

The car comes with special editing software that can add music, scene transitions, and special effects. The car sells for $59.99 (USD) and comes with a mount system that allows the car to be hooked to a bike or other device too. You can purchase the Hot Wheels Video Racer now over at Mattel’s shop.
