3D Printed Adapters Let You Connect 10 Different Kinds of Building Toys

 |  |  |  March 20, 2012

You have your LEGO and Duplos and K’Nex and Tinker Toys and many others, which work great by themselves, but they don’t connect with each other. Well, here’s something cool that will let you build some amazing masterpieces using them all.

The Free Universal Construction Kit (or F.*.C.K.) will let you connect pieces from the 10 most popular building toys. It was conceived by Free Art and Technology and is available for free, assuming you have access to a 3D printer.

The 79 piece set includes every possible set-to-set transitional piece as well as one giant universal adapter brick that is just plain crazy. I have no idea what you would use that one for. You can download the kit here, and check out the complete grid of adapters on this cool wall chart [PDF].

It will be really interesting to see how people use these pieces to create new and amazing things. Happy building.
