Gadget lovers are all too familiar with the distinct sterile, factory smell that our toys and gizmos have when they are first taken out of their packaging. I’m not sure if I’d like to smell like a gadget, even if it is a new one, but apparently a fragrance company has replicated that new gadget smell, specifically that of an Apple Macbook Pro.
The fragrance was made by Air Aroma not for Apple but for a group of Melbourne-based artists called Greatest Hits. The artists sent Air Aroma a brand new Macbook Pro with its box unopened so that the company’s perfume makers can replicate the scent. I imagine it smells like aluminum and silicon, with a hint of cheap labor. Unfortunately for Apple fans, the scent will be used at a Greatest Hits exhibition and will not be sold commercially. I guess we’ll have to keep buying new Apple products if we want to experience that scent again.
