Comcast Xfinity TV Player App Allows Subscribers to Watch Shows Offline

If you’re a customer of cable provider Comcast, a new app update is available for you on Apple and Android devices. The app is the Xfinity TV Player App and it will allow you to download TV shows and movies directly to your mobile device to play offline and on the go. That means you can download content at home using your Wi-Fi network and then have content watch on the bus, train, or in the car.

This app has been around for a while but the new download and watch off-line capability was only recently added. As of this week, you can now download thousands of premium TV shows and movies including content from Showtime, Starz, Encore, and Movieplex. You do have to have a subscription to those premium channels to be able to download the content, but this is still a great new feature for frequent travelers.

Comcast says that subscribers will have access to popular shows including Homeland and Dexter from Showtime as well as Spartacus from Starz. Comcast also notes that it has teamed up with Verizon Wireless to allow Verizon customers to stream content directly to mobile devices over the Verizon 4G LTE network, in addition to the apps default Wi-Fi mode.

Comcast subscribers can grab the iOS version from the iTunes App Store, and the Android version over on Google Play.
