I love good sushi. Since I’m land-locked in the Midwest, it’s not exactly easy to get good fresh sushi-grade fish here, but there are definitely some places that fly it in daily at least. Still, I haven’t seen any sushi joint around here who serves it this way… Yes, that’s a tank made of raw fish, rice and seaweed.

I haven’t played The Last of Us yet, but I think if you crossed that game with Super Mario Bros. this would be one of its enemies. This gruesome sculpture came from the talented hands and twisted mind of Karen aka Dogzillalives.

A few months ago we saw an awesome tie with a built-in equalizer. Bill Porter is working on a more interactive necktie: one that plays Tetris. Bill made it to trump his usual geeky teaching attire, a lab coat with lots of LEDs on it.

Most modern smartphones have a built-in LED camera flash. But if you think that your phone’s flash isn’t bright enough to properly document your party nights, dramatic Instagram pics or Bigfoot sightings, keep an eye out for the iblazr.

While there are many futuristic uses for the heads-up display in Google Glass, several people I’ve met who were wearing them used them primarily to capture images and videos from their personal point of view. So if you don’t want to spend $1500 on a pair of real Google Glasses, you can get the camera part for less than 1/10th that cost.

Ever wondered how much money in video games and science fiction movies would be worth in our world? Well, thanks to the Intergalactic Exchange Bureau, you can now convert between a number of fictitious currencies. Developed as a promotional stunt by Money in Advance, the Intergalactic Exchange Bureau can convert currencies from Star Wars, Star Trek, Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire and a couple of others.

There have been many attempts to recreate the design of the Hoverboards from Back to the Future II, but none of them have been functional. Now, there’s a project which just kicked off with hopes of creating an actual, working Hoverboard by the Summer of 2015 – the same time period that Marty visits in the movie.

Smudged screens are one of my biggest pet peeves. Unfortunately, they’re virtually unavoidable when you have a smartphone because every tap or swipe on the screen will put greasy fingerprints on it. For that reason, I carry a microfabric cloth with me wherever I go.

You can touch people from all over the world with kindness, but now you can use something called the Tactilu to literally touch people, even when you’re miles apart. The Tactilu is a wrist device that lets its wearers communicate and “touch” each other, but only on the wrist for obvious reasons.

We’ve already seen some innovative ways to make action figures via 3D printing. But ModiBot might be the best and most practical 3D printed action figure yet. Instead of letting you design and print an action figure from scratch or order a 3D printed action figure of an existing character, ModiBot meets you halfway.

There are lots of articles online speculating about how Apple can create an instant game console by increasing the integration between the Apple TV and iOS devices. It’s an interesting idea, but so far we’ve seen that Apple is slow to embrace its gaming community.
