Remember Teddy Ruxpin from back in the day? No matter how popular it was, that bear was creepy. My brother had one and it always stayed in a closet out of fear that it would wake up and start talking to us at night. A new toy has hit Indiegogo and it looks a lot like a modern-day Teddy Ruxpin.
The toy is called the ZiBear and it uses buzzwords like “cloud computing” and “the internet of things” to give kids endless content choices. You can type or speak messages on a smartphone connected to ZiBear via Bluetooth, and the bear can speak back, answering questions a la Siri. Using ZiBear apps, parents can make quizzes that a child can take with the bear.
ZiBear can also read stories or sing along to any music on your phone.
Overall, this sounds like a cool toy, even if it is a bit creepy when it starts talking. A pledge of at least £45 (~$75 USD) will get you one of the bears.
