Earlier this year we featured modder dekuNukem’s custom made Nintendo 3DS peripheral that hatches eggs and finds shiny Pokémon in Pokémon X/Y. His latest hack lets you play on the 3DS using a GameCube controller, a perfect setup for Super Smash Bros.
Using an Arduino Nano, dekuNukem made a detachable adapter that takes input from a GameCube controller and translates the input for the 3DS.
He hooks up an LCD display from an old phone when he wants to adjust the button mapping.
Here’s dekuNukem testing the adapter on his 3DS:
It may not look like much, but it’s got it where it counts. Check out dekuNukem’s Imgur album for more on his hack. He said he’ll upload a more detailed guide soon, and he’s also accepting a limited number of orders for the adapter. You can contact him on YouTube or through dekuNukem@gmail.com.
