Most gamers are madly in love with mechanical keyboards, to the point where their prices have inflated drastically over the years. Personally, I like my keys to have a short throw, so I’m all about the chiclets, but if you love that audible “click” that you get from your MX Cherrys, I’m not going to knock it. Of course, for those of us who travel regularly, laptops are a must, and sometimes gaming needs to happen in a hotel. It would really, really suck to have to carry a 10 lb desktop replacement and a full-size mechanical keyboard and a wired gaming mouse and some headphones, and that’s why the MSI GT80 Titan is a good thing; it has that nice clicky mechanical keyboard built in.
It looks a little goofy, but I’m sure that many of you will just be pleased to see those full-size keys on a portable gaming rig. Surprisingly, despite the 27mm keys, the GT80 is still the thinnest and lightest 18″ gaming laptop, which is cool, but might be cause for concern when it comes to heat management. Only time will tell.
Rumor has it that the inside will be home to an nVidia GTX 980, up to 32 gigs of RAM, and a side-by-side SSD and traditional hard drive. Basically, it will be really fast.
