A few years ago, we saw a beautifully made coffee table based on the Nintendo 64 logo. If you’ve ever wanted one but can’t tell a hammer from a, uh, from another woodworking… stuff, Geeks With Wood is your man.
A new Pacific Rim action figure has landed on ThinkGeek and it’s a very cool collectible indeed. It’s an 18-inch reproduction of the Cherno Alpha Jaeger. Every time I see this Jaeger, I wonder if the creators of the movie meant for it to look like the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail or if it was an accident.
Even though many PS4 games have or will have support for Remote Play on the PS Vita, the handheld’s lack of actual L2 and R2 triggers severely gimps the experience. Now we have some good news and bad news.
This is not new, but it’s super fun. Watch this guy’s mad skills as he alternates between playing the guitar and chopping stacks of flaming boards. I can’t decide whether this is awesome or completely idiotic.
If you are a chess player, you may like to play with a set that is more than traditional looking, especially if you are a comic book geek. Entertainment Earth has enough chess pieces to build an entire set using characters from various Marvel and DC comics.
I’m not a big comic book reader, but from what I can tell, it appears that most of the lesser characters are pawns with the better recognized characters being higher ranked pieces.
If you want to set the mood when you’re gaming, don’t just get the Cheetos and 2-liter bottle of Mountain Dew. Use these candles as well. They’re gamer candles from Gametee. They smell like your games.
If you are out of the office a lot with your gadgets and running out of power is a concern, you’ll want to carry an external battery pack to juice up. There’s no shortage of portable batteries on the market today.
Last year we saw a ridiculously complex concept for a LEGO scale model of the SHIELD Helicarrier. Fortunately, LEGO has unveiled its official take on the flying fortress. It’s a manageable kit that comes with many unique parts.
The Helicarrier itself measures 31″ long, and is made of 2,996 pieces, including ones for the control room inside the ship as well as rotors that you can spin by rotating a tiny crank.
A London event called “Light Night” is all about bringing together dreamers, artists and engineers to build installations based which involve light. That’s always a recipe for awesomeness, but this year one team kicked things up a notch, by putting people among the stars.

Farmer Derek Klingenberg of Klingenberg Farms Studios, clearly enjoys making art as much as farming. He recently gained a YouTube following when he called his cows with trombone covers of “Jingle Bells” and Lorde songs. Now he is using his truck to herd cattle and make art.
One of my all time favorite movies is the Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Growing up, we had a very early pay TV service that played one or two movies per month between 7 and 10pm each night and for a month straight all they seemed to play was that film.
Last year we saw a couple of 13.3″ E-ink readers. Chinese company Dasung Tech used E Ink’s similarly-sized Fina electronic paper display (EPD) module to create a 1600×1200 USB monitor. It’s meant to be a secondary display and even has a detachable stand.
When my son was an infant, he had constant ear infections, and we had to check his temperature roughly every 15 seconds or we felt like terrible parents and were convinced he had brain damage. The problem was he was also the lightest sleeper in the history of babies and would wake up at the sound me turning the thermometer on.
Like millions of children around the world, Instructables member Tez_Gelmir’s son is a big LEGO fan. And like millions of families around the world the father and son often end up spending a lot of time sorting through their piles of LEGO just to get the parts they want to use.
