The Vikaura is the polar opposite of the huge and expensive digital picture frames that have come up in the past couple of years. It’s simply a small E-ink display that receives messages or images from your mobile device via Bluetooth.
You or your friends can send messages or images to Vikaura via its mobile app. You can control multiple Vikauras this way. Alternatively, you’ll be able to subscribe to feeds such as weather, calendar or news that will automatically push info from your phone to Vikaura. Since it’s an E-ink display, the images can stay on the screen indefinitely – with minimal power consumption.
For some reason, Vikaura’s makers decided to put a non-rechargeable Lithium battery inside the display. That said, Vikaura should run for years or thousands of updates before its battery needs to be replaced.
Vikaura will come in 4″, 6″ and 9.7″ displays. Pledge at least $99 (USD) on Kickstarter to get a Vikaura as a reward.
