Boston Dynamics Spot Robot Dog: The Robotdogpocalypse is Coming!

 |  |  |  |  February 11, 2015

We all know Boston Dynamics BigDog, a quadrupedal robot designed to navigate rough terrain. Now BigDog has a little dog sibling called Spot. Spot weighs only 160 lbs, has four hydraulic legs, a sensor head, and a crazy ability to stay upright even when kicked by a human or climbing slopes and uneven ground.

Spot walks more like a weird horse than a dog and it’s movement is pretty creepy. Even the people who work on this robot appear to be fearful and hate the creature. The video shows several staff members kicking the beast, but alas, it always stays upright, probably logging their faces for future vengeance.

Study the video. Find it’s weak points. For one day we may need to kill us some robot dogs. I’m looking forward to packs of them roaming the wasteland of the future.
