It’s highly advisable to set a password on your computer so it locks when you walk away from it. But having to type in a password every time you sit back down is an annoyance. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve typed mine too quickly and had to key it in again.
Mac users are in luck though, thanks to the Sesame 2. This keychain-sized wireless gadget acts as a key for your computer. It can be set to automatically lock the machine when you walk away, and unlock it on approach. It can also be used to strengthen security, by adding two-factor authentication – which means you not only need to enter a password but you also need to have the Sesame 2 on your person. I’m not sure I’d use it that way, but then again, I don’t work in a bank either. On the other hand, the convenience factor of the proximity only mode is awesome.
Best of all, the Sesame 2 is currently on sale in the Technabob Shop, where you can get one for just $29(USD) – more than 25% off the regular MSRP.
