Alien Facehugger Mask: At Halloween Everyone Can Hear you Scream

Alien Facehugger Mask: At Halloween Everyone Can Hear you Scream
The most memorable thing for me about Alien and all the other films in the franchise isn’t the queen alien, it’s the facehuggers. The thought of something laying eggs inside of you that then eat your guts and burst out of you is creepy as hell. If you want to get dressed up for Halloween, but want to do it in a minimalist way, this facehugger mask is just the ticket.

Nixie Radian Analog Tube Clock: Time is a Spiked Circle

Nixie Radian Analog Tube Clock: Time is a Spiked Circle
Most nixie tube clocks are based on tubes that show numerals. Tungsten Customs is no stranger to such clocks, but its latest product uses nixie tubes to create an analog-style digital clock. The Nixie Radian’s IN-9 bargraph tubes serve as the clock’s hour and minute hand. You can set the Nixie Radian to simply indicate the hour and minute like a normal clock, or you can pick from a handful of animations to add to its style. Pledge at least $345 (USD) on Kickstarter to receive a Nixie Radian clock as a reward.

Girls und Panzer Panzer IV Teapot: Panzer is Teapot, Teapot is Panzer
Bandai Visual Club have come up with a great emblem for St. Gloriana’s sensha-do team, although it’s based on the tank used by the main characters of the hit anime Girls und Panzer. This Panzer IV turret teapot carries up to 300ml of liquid and comes with two teacups that are printed with quotes from the show. Attack Bandai Visual Club and pre-order the Girls und Panzer teapot for ~$90 (USD).

Millennium Falcon Multi-Tool: Hardware Wars IRL

Millennium Falcon Multi-Tool: Hardware Wars IRL
Is there anything that the Millennium Falcon can’t do? This is the ship that made the Kessel- Yeah, you’ve heard that one. Well, this ship also took part in both Death Star battles and escaped a giant space worm thing.

Metal Gear Solid V Venom Snake Nendoroid: Ace of Mother Base

Metal Gear Solid V Venom Snake Nendoroid: Ace of Mother Base
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain‘s star Venom Snake gets the cute Nendoroid treatment. Actually this one’s full name is Nendoroid Venom Snake: Sneaking Suit Version, so it’s safe to assume we’ll see other variants in the near future. Aside from his big head and stubby feet, V comes with the Phantom Cigar, a cardboard box, an iDroid with a map hologram effect, three swappable prosthetic arms – the bionic arm, the stun arm and the blast arm – a pistol, a rifle and a Fulton balloon that fits around any Nendoroid figure. The Nendoroid Venom Snake: Sneaking Suit Version costs around $50 (USD).

Autonomous Quadcopters Build Rope Bridge: Temple of Drones

Autonomous Quadcopters Build Rope Bridge: Temple of Drones
Someday explorers and rescuers could carry quadcopters not just to survey but to build bridges literally on the fly. Researchers at ETH Zurich were able to successfully demonstrate a system of autonomous quadcopters that can create a usable rope bridge with minimal human intervention. Headed by Federico Augugliaro and Prof.

Dobot High Precision Desktop Robot Arm: There is no Trybot

Dobot High Precision Desktop Robot Arm: There is no Trybot
Last year we featured the uArm, a desktop robot arm inspired by ABB industrial robots. It’s affordable and responsive, but it’s mostly a pick and place robot. The Dobot on the other hand appears to be precise enough for a variety of tasks. The Dobot is powered by an Arduino Mega 2560, has an aluminum alloy frame and has three stepper motors and a servo for 4-axis movement. It’s precise enough to be used for laser engraving and drawing, and in fact comes with a 500mW laser head and a Chinese brush.

You can pre-order the chopsticks for $12 (USD) straight from Kotobukiya; check out the rest of the arsenal here.

Game Boy Electric Guitar: Play It Loud

Game Boy Electric Guitar: Play It Loud
Bit Fix’s Game Boy Classic modding competition brought us Mod Purist’s silly Game Boy fridge. Here’s fibbef’s contribution to the contest, an electric guitar that also looks and plays like the classic Nintendo handheld. Fibbef used a Raspberry Pi B+ and RetroPie for the emulation, then made the buttons and guitar body from scratch.

Late Night Shop is a Scary Strategy Creep Fest

Late Night Shop is a Scary Strategy Creep Fest
Growing up, I always thought it would be awesome to get locked in a store all night and get to play with and eat anything I wanted. I never really thought about what it would be like if you were locked in a store and all those creepy mannequins came to life.

Hockey Player vs. Drone

Hockey Player vs. Drone
Some people love drones, others hate them. It’s just the way it is. There are safety and privacy issues on one hand and on the other drones are fun to operate, and shoot awesome aerial videos.

First True-Scale Solar System Model Shows How Tiny We Are

First True-Scale Solar System Model Shows How Tiny We Are
A pair of space geeks recently set about creating what they claim is the first true-to-scale physical model of our solar system. The duo of Wylie Overstreet and Alex Gorosh headed out to a dry lake bed in Nevada to create their project with the goal of showing us just how vast our own solar system is. The guys started by placing an inflatable ball at the center point to represent the Sun, then placed a marble-sized Earth one scale astronomical unit from the it – in this case, about 577 feet.
