DIY Kid’s Rocket Raccoon Costume: Guardian of the Front Porch
Chase Borchardt didn’t have to steal a Morag orb to become famous, thanks to his talented mom Christina, who made him an awesome Rocket Raccoon costume. Oh yeah! Christina, who documented her build on The RPF, says she started working on the costume last June, even before Guardians of the Galaxy came out.

Meat Cakes are Japan’s Latest and Greatest Invention

Meat Cakes are Japan’s Latest and Greatest Invention
I like cake as much as the next guy, and birthday cake is especially good. The thing is while I like dessert, I’d certainly rather have a good steak. This is where Japan got creative and has a new thing dubbed “meat cakes.” The raw meat is butchered and sculpted into shapes that look somewhat like a cake.

Protopiper Prints Tape Tubes for 3D Sketches: Tubeframe
Handheld 3D printers like the 3Doodler are easy and fun to use, but they’re suited for small sketches. That’s why a group of Hasso Plattner Institut (HPI) students came up with the Protopiper (pdf), a unique tape dispenser. Made by Harshit Agrawal, Udayan Umapathi, Robert Kovacs, Frohnhofen Johannes, Hsiang-Ting Chen, Stefanie Mueller and Patrick Baudisch, the Protopiper dispenses hollow tubes made of adhesive tape.

Escape from this dimension – well, in your mind – with Dave Dalton’s cool replica of Rick’s portal gun from Rick & Morty. Like other fan-made replicas, it has the green bulb and LED display, but it also projects an animation of the portal. Among other electronic parts, the 3D printed case houses a small projector.

SprayPrinter Makes You Banksy in Your Own Mind

SprayPrinter Makes You Banksy in Your Own Mind
I can appreciate the skill involved in making art with spray cans. I’ve watched videos on YouTube before of people seemingly spraying random colors of paint onto a surface and ending up with something awesome. If you are like me and lack the skills needed to do anything artistic, check out the SprayPrinter. It’s an attachment that you put onto a can of spray paint that activates the valve, spraying little dots of color onto the surface you are painting.

3D Printed Hair: Furbrication
That made up word up there is actually in a research paper, thanks to the Carnegie Mellon University researchers who came up with a technique to make FDM 3D printers print strands of hair, fiber or bristles, without any hardware modification. Researchers Gierad Laput, Xiang “Anthony” Chen and Chris Harrison were inspired by “stringing” – the stray strand of glue that sometimes leaks out of a glue gun.

Provenance Retro Video Game Emulator for Apple TV: The Past of Television is Here
Here’s the funny thing about video games. It gets harder to get a hold of games from 5 to 10 years ago, but it becomes easier to play games from 30 years ago. Aside from their original consoles, you can play 8-bit and 16-bit games on your computer, mobile device or on your own DIY console.

Disgusting Zombie Cake: The Wedding Dead

Disgusting Zombie Cake: The Wedding Dead
Hopefully this zombie wedding cake tastes better than it looks, because it looks pretty disgusting. Normally wedding cakes are created to be beautiful and tasteful. This does not look beautiful, tasteful or tasty. It looks like some bakery got infected with a zombie virus and the cakes were not immune. This is the perfect cake if you want people to fear your marriage.
