DIY BB-8 Shoes: Roller Heels

by Lambert Varias

We’ve seen a couple of outrageous heels with Star Wars-themed details. These BB-8 heels by Instructables employee Mike Warren aka mikeasaurus are stylish but not over the top. In fact, they’re under a pair of tops, because you can spin the droid-shaped heels.

Mike replaced the heels with BB-8 figures that he made out of wooden spheres. He attached the figures to the rest of the shoe using steel screws, making sure that there’s enough give for the figures to spin freely.

This is definitely a project for experienced makers because it involves welding, woodworking and fine outlining and painting.

Even though the spinning heels are the shoes’ main attraction, I think the Mike’s clean work on the foam and plastic embellishments are equally impressive. Head to Instructables for Mike’s guide.
