The Handy Chair Lives up to Its Name

 |  |  |  January 7, 2016

If you’re looking for a handy chair, look no further than the Handy Chair. It’s a chair. It’s a hand. You’ll be sitting in the palm of it’s hand. Okay, time to palm those hand jokes. This fun furniture is from Mexican artist Pedro Reyes and his wife, fashion designer Carla Fernández. You have to hand it to them… Sorry.

The couple are renovating and redesigning their home in Mexico City and one of the things they are putting into the home are these chairs, Reyes’ own creation. They are simply called Mano-Sillas (translation “Hand-Chairs”) and as you can see, they look like a hand opening up to offer you a place to sit.

Maybe I watch too much Doctor Who, but all I can think about are those fingers contracting and crushing you after you sit.
